Anybody know much about these or have experience with them? DoctorDiff's site lists the case as having forged steel caps and the billet side adjusters. Just looking for some real-world feedback.

I saw one at his shop yesterday and it looks way better than the stock one in every way

The stock Mopar cast steel cases are way stronger than any cast iron, nodular or cast grey iron, cases out there Don't waste your money If you want to make a positive change for your 8 3/4 to make it stronger buy one steel carrier cap for the drivers side and have it install by a good competent machine shop That or put the money towards a Dana 60

Thanks for the input. I had been looking at the Mark Williams cap, but when I ran across the Yukon cases, I figured it was worth some research. I'd love a Dana, but it's just not in the budget right now. You'd poop your pants if you knew my vehicle weight and the HP I'm putting thru the 8 3/4, BUT it rarely sees the track, especially now that I'll need a license, 10-point certified cage, etc...

Mopar never made a steel 8.75" case, nor steel caps.

I stock a couple different 489 cases with FORGED STEEL caps.

Is this a lot stronger then the stock one? I am running the 742 case now, Would I want to replace it with the 742? I have been running this one for four years. I was thinking about adding a little more power and the 8 3/4 makes me nervous.

Looks good. If a guy has to stay with the 8.75 for some reason then it seems like an upgraded center section would be a good investment. $300 is a good price, I'm sure that was a big league tooling investment.

I have been running one for a few years with no problems other than when I got it it had a lot of casting sand stuck up in the pinion area.

It has held up fine, my problem is ring and pinion life. I

This subject, Mopar making a "better" 8 3/4 center section for drag racing, came up in one the old Mopar sponsored Drag Seminars, Mr Hoover said there was no need as the stock 8 3/4 cases where all cast steel Maybe I heard him wrong, that was when the Ford 9 inch was coming into being popular with thier nodular iron center section being the trick hot set up of the week in some of the car magazine back then Now,if I can remember how to test cast grey iron compared to cast steel with a hammer and chisel or a hacksaw, I'll let everyone on here know what I find out

I called Cass (DoctorDiff) and discussed some options. Great, helpful guy who knows a lot. He got me set up with something I feel I'll be happy with at a very reasonable price. If you have any questions, he's your guy.

you will never solve that issue with an 8-3/4 with any power

Are inferring that the sand was left there to help clean up the future mess?

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.
