I am running the Goodyear 14-31-15 slicks on 15X15 rims. The car is about 2950 with driver. I called Goodyear and they said to run 6.5 to 7 psi. in the tires. I have run them as low as 8 psi and they handle OK on top end. It just sounds a little low @ 6.5 to 7 lbs. Anyone else run them that low at a comparrible weight? We are trying to improve the 60 ft. times. Mark

If it dead hooks @ 8 lbs no need to go lower. The only reason to go lower is if its spinning the tires. As for 60' times they will always be better with as high of air pressure as you can run with out spinning the tires.

I had a set of goodyear 16x33x15 on a set of 15 inch wide wheels, it would hook from 9.0 (I never tried higher) to 7.0 and o straight. I pulled them off, they where on the car before I bought it for over 6 yrs so I switch to a set of M/T 14x3`x15 stiff walls, I started of running them at 9.0 to 8.5 lbs, I have tried 12 lbs at the loacl track and it spun, I run 10.0 in them now on a bad track I advise new racers to pump the tires up until it stars to spin and the 60 fts. slow down and then go the other way on lower pressure until it slows down, make your decsion on what you like

Is this a converter and gearing issue, rather than tires? The converter is 3500 to 4,000 and the gear is 4.11. This is a street strip compromise. Mark

This is pretty much what I have done. I started at 10 psi. It was spinning a lot. I had the car scaled because it was pulling right. First pass after scaling was at 9 psi was 1.40 60 ft. We went to 8 psi, after I talked to Goodyear last week and the 60 ft. dropped to 1.38. It doesn't seem to be spinning now, but I don't have the video in my possession yet to evaluate it. A minor jet change picked up the mph. I am not a chassis tuner at all. I am trying to get into the 5 second ET range. I guess I can just keep tuning the engine for more power? Mark

Well it seemed to hook the best it has so far, in the way it carried the front wheels up further down the track. But the 60 ft. is still not that good? Tuning the engine is picking up the MPH but the 60 ft. doesn't seem to improve much.
Just a heads up,,,make SURE you are getting in the "tracks" or the "groove" at the starting line. Knowing your car from pics here, I imagine the rear is pretty narrow. You may be getting one wheel alittle bit off from run to run, causing the 60' to vary. DAMHIK

IMO you need more stall 5k-6k and maybe 4.30's

I second that.

I know this is true, as it has already happened. The guy in the starting line booth has helped me the last two times out! It is very much appreciated, as I seem to place the car poorly on my own! Thanks!! Mark

I run exactly the same slick and pretty equal weight and I found that on a well prepped track mine likes 12.5 psi but on a not so well prepped I have to reduce the pressure, I was at my home track and they usually aren't as well prepped especially on T@T night and my first pass @12.5 it spun some, my second I reduce pressure to 12.0 and that helped but needed to go down a little more, but I broke a tranny and wasn't able to accomplish that.

Sorry to hear about your tranny. I only run on T&T nights for now as the car is not dialed in and the driver is worse! I guess right now I am just an "ET chaser". If I stay at these speeds I will of course have to get my license. From what you are telling me , it sounds like if my shocks were dialed in better, I could possibly run more air in the slicks? It really doesn't drive bad at all now. I am just happy that it is going straight ! Thanks! Mark
