The paint shop stripped the interior and now the auto shifter's stuck in park. I've rotated the sleeve on the steering column to no avail and I don't see any linkage hooked to it under the hood near the firewall. Any ideas? THX

Column or floor shift? Have you crawled under to check the linkage for binding?

Floor shift. Apparently you're not supposed to thread the knob on all the way

For whatever its worth...
I bought a 70 300 ragtop with the same issue. A but of poking around revealed that the keyswitch must be "on" for the shifter to release.

Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they are not out to get you. WANT TO BUY- Looking for a CD by 'The Sub-Mersians' entitled "Raw Love Songs From my Garage To Your Bedroom". Also, any of the various surf-revival compilation albums this band has contributed to.
