NTK sensors tollerate lead much better than the bosch sensors from what Ive been told. They are much more expensive though...

That's good to know.

You are probably right.

Are you familiar with VP-101 unleaded? Sez good for turbo charged and compressions up to 12.1 w/iron and 13.1 w/alum heads.............been runnin it for a couple years now.

I can get that at the pump - but I usually mix 110 leaded with my 92 octane premium.
My boosted compression ratio on my iron head 360 ends up being 21.4:1
(9.5:1 + 18.8 psi of boost)

Gotcha.............glad I`m n/a............

We run NTK sensors with C-23 race fuel and obviously have a two step. The current sensors are on their second season. They are about $180 a pop

you waste your time reading a plug that been idled.
Here is what i recommend to the OP.. I take two extra (used) plugs and the socket wrench in the car with me when i make a pass and need to check plugs..
click it off after the stripe..
coast off the track pop the hood. and pull a plug from #1 and #7. replace with the used plugs.
drive back to pits and read the plugs in your hand.
tune accordingly.
then install two fresh plugs in 1 and 7 make a new pass..and repeat.
a box of 8 plugs will get you four passes to tune on..instead of using 24 new plugs in every hole..for the same 4 passes..
when you get it where you think its working...then i pull all 8 at the end of the track to make sure all 8 are happy...

why do people make things so complicated...

i read somewhere.?you can soak the 02 sensors to make them work again..cant remember what the stuff is called that you soak it in....
ive never done it..

Just out of curiosity, why 1 and 7? I know they are on far ends of the block, but on the same bank? Good info though - thanks.

I think he is pulling the 2 easiest plugs(for him)

that would be 2 and 8 for me. Just finished installing my Summit ( "Innovate") W/B A/F system and calibrated it. I will run the car as it is and get some A/F numbers - idle, cruise, WOT. Wanna hook up my camera first.

What wideband set up did you go with? For carb tuning I always liked the lm1 with rpm converter, and added a narrowband sensor/ map sensor in the aux inputs. This gives you load, rpm, actual a/f ratio, and happiness a/f ratio. Very usefull info...

i run a single plane intake and look for primary or front of carb jetting #1cyl..and 2ndary or rear of carb jetting.#7 cyl
1 and 7 are easiest to reach in a hurry on the return lane.
it could be #2 and #8 also if its easier to access

Went with the LC-2 "DB" kit ( Summit pt # SUM-G2995 ). Basic kit, so I don't have all the other available plug-ins at this time.

Can you go into a little more detail?

RPM converter allows data recordings to have a reference point. Map sensor allows you to see actual engine load. The narrowband sensor needs to be used as a means of seeing if the ratio that your wide band is reading is what the engine is happy with. You need to ignore the narrowband output VALUE, and just pay attention to the AMPLITUDE of the voltage signal. A jagged voltage line tells you the engine isn't digging the current a/f ratio. Example: your engine is running at a 12:1 ratio. You look at the data log and at 12:1 the narrowband voltage output is not smooth. You can go richer or leaner and see if the amplitude gets lower. If it gets higher(more squiggles) you went the wrong way. Alot of people have dismissed narrowbands. I'm not one of them.

What's your target AFR at WOT?

Hey Blaine, 11.5 would be nice - and safe . What's yours?

Ok, got a chance to fire it up today in the garage only. Per the digital wide band gauge, idle A/F was around 11.6. Turned in the idle mixture screws a tad and idle A/F went to 12.2. Held the throttle at 2500rpm and the mixture went very lean at about 15:1. - no boost, 10" HG, and on the primary's only. Got some smaller hi speed air bleeds on order. Tomorrow I will run some WOT tests under boost.

Finally got a chance to run a few WOT tests today and I was getting wide band readings in the 10.5 to 10.7 range @ 6200 and 15 lbs boost. Keep in mind I am testing with a full exhaust and 5000 feet above sea level. Still way fat - I would think? I will try going back to original jetting ( as I got the carb from Pro Systems ) and see if that will lean it up a bit. Pretty sure that is where my short plug longevity problem is coming from also. - - lead fouled.
