what holds the window crank and inside door handles on a 1942 dodge truck ? i don't see any clips around the shaft.

i cant say with 100% certainty but in my 47 Desoto I had to push in on the door panel(there is a spring behind it on the window crank) there is a small pin that goes through the post and crank that can be removed with a punch. not the easiest thing to remove.

what he said

you need to push in on the excussion(SP) plate and use a small punch or ice pick and push the little pin out and remove the handles.

see the pics below to see where the pin goes through the handle...
