had a lot of problem stopping my 1940 ply coupe with the stock front drum brakes so I did my home work and looked at all the disc brake kits i could find ( i saying one is better than another) but after looking I went with rusty hope kit his his had everything need to convert and it all fit without a problem i have a buddy with a 1940 dodge he helped me do the change on mine when he looked at the kit and how nice it was and went together he told me he is thinking about going to rusty hope and dumping the GM hub that his kit used so he can run the same bolt set up front and rear for me rusty hope all the way

The Scarebird conversion requires no drilling/tapping.

The Scarebird kit looks like the adapters are welded together which I think is a less than wonderful idea.

ECI makes a nice kit and when you factor in that it comes with all the parts I don't think it is much if any more money.

Scarebird has one plate and another welded on top of it, also both plates are held together by the mounting bolts, there's no problem with that. I just did a price check, Rock Auto delivered to my door the rotors and calipers come to $106.06 and include pads.

It'll final out at a little less than $300.

Nothing against ECI, that guy is a real engineer, but you have to ask what you're getting for that extra $325.00. I guess you do end up with shiny hubs and new bearings and seals. The new bearings and seals shouldn't run more than $40 on the Rock.

yes the guy at ECI lives and breathes brakes and hydrulics,,,,have talked to him many times at the rod events,,and i just learned why his kit is so much more money then all the others and he never mentioned it i read it on a fat man instruction sheet,,,
ECI uses the hub because his caliper plate mounts to the out side of the spindel while all the other kits bolt to the back of the spindel,,even tho i have no clue why he does it that way,im assuming it requires the aluminum hub to extend the spindel length,,i wonder if it kicks the wheels out farther,,,,
