Sounds like it worked pretty well.
That is a big duration hydraulic flat tappet cam! 268 at 50 ! With a torque peak around 5000, but good torque down to 4200, that converter might get a stall speed close to 4000ish and work fine.

The reverse dome and matched chambers will work well at 10.2 CR and pump gas. I have run more CR (10.5) with iron heads and less cam (245 hyd and 256 solid) with the same piston design.

Great info, Jim. I figured that would be the case, but no actual experience to back up my thoughts. I figure the same on the converter. With it pulling that much torque at 3800 up, there won't be much left on the table by using the current converter.
That 268 juice cam is the same cam grind that back in 1997 pushed my Dart to 10.10 at 132 mph, using a rb at 475 cubes, 12.5 compression, 440-c bowl ported heads, and a tiny 750 alky holley, at 3180 race weight.
