I am considering an Eaton TrueTrac for an 8.75 but I am reading some internet chatter about noise. Cass or anybody have input?
Some people, not many, are complaining of 'clicking' during coasting conditions, apparently due to the pinion gears shifting around in their "pockets" (that's an Eaton term) in the case.
They recommend NOT using synthetic lube, presumably to avoid this issue.

My concern is whether or not the units made specifically for our 8 3/4's make this noise?
Anybody?

I built many 8.75" third-members around Eaton Tru-Tracs and I haven't heard any complaints.

Of course, I always recommend conventional 85 W 140 gear lube.

I have one that Cass built me last year. 489 case Truetrac 3.91 gears and his recommended fluid
Works awesome!
