I was told to post over here so I will try again. I have a 74 dart drag car. The problem I am having is when it pulls the front wheels off the ground the front tires go in at the top. I have caltracs on it and they say you need 5" of travel for them to work. It doesn't do it so much if I leave the stops in, but if I take them out it looks bad in pictures. I have seem Mopar with the front up and there tires are staight how can I get this or is it just how it is. Thank

With OEM components, you are pretty limited--not much you can do about camber change as the tires drop.

Adjustable upper control arms. Or look into the Moog offset control arm bushings, installed right they help you get a nice alignment. I go wheels up nice and straight and the thing could practically drive itself on a good track.

Where is the camber now? Is it positive? Offset upper bushings will help if it's negative? Are the lower control arm bushings worn? Is the K-Frame shimmed down from the rails? The lower arm is longer than the upper. If you have the front end raised the upper is already at a downward angle. Address all these items 1st.

The upper and lower stock control arms are different lengths to get that camber change. The only way to lessen it is to lengthen the upper control arm or shorten the bottom one, which would lead to a whole lot of issues beyond camber change. If you lengthen the uppers, you have to move the attaching points of the inner ends in the same amount you lengthen the A arm. Your best bet is to limit front travel to about four inch, and make a soft stop if you don't use the factory one. You can also start with the front end lower if there is room.

Greg,

What is your suggestion for a soft stop?

One thing you can do is replace the stock upper control arm bumper with the larger bumper fron ols style traction bars. Just have to modify the hole that it goes in.

If you don't like the pictures don't buy or look at them If you want the tires to not tuck in, limit the front end travel, as you already know that does what you want, correct Does the front tires shake when they hit the ground coming down? Mine would sometimes, but not on others You might want to try stiffening up the front shocks on the extension on the good tracks so it doesn't jerk the front tires up real quickly and continue to go higher One of the Mopar drag race seminar gurus(Leslie I think) use to say if the front tars are off the ground 1/2 inch all the weight is on the rear tars In other words if there going higher your wasting motion and energy picking them up higher than they need to be

If you need to remove the stops to get the 5 inches of travel, that tells me that the ride height is too high.
If you lower the front you can get the camber very close to when the control arm is on the stops as it is at rest.
