Hi peeps,

I have (had) a leaking heater water valve that I've disassembled to replace the rubber gaskets that where really bad. The 2 plastic pieces where still together all the time, as I had no idea how to separate these. While cleaning the inner sides they separated and I've seen, that the inner valve, that goes up and down by operating the temp cable has an inner thread which is screwed onto the thread that the bolt has, which is going up and down by operating.

Attached is a picture of the water valve itself.

The inner plastic valve with the inner thread has 2 different sides. And there is a small metal tube that goes from the inner valve to the outlet, seems to be a bypass or overpressure fuse. Now I have 2, better 4 options to insert the inner valve in the direction to that tube.

The inner valve has a notch, which I believe should go in the direction to the bypass tube.

Can somebody confirm this, or know how to insert it the right way? I don't like to disassemble everything after it's finnished.

Have more pics of the whole rebuild, if somebody needs more information.

THX & CU

Not sure these were designed to be serviced. I see these often on e-bay for sale brand new, not very expensive. It might be a better option.

I have a better feeling if I fix things by myself, and like to do it. The rubber gaskets where in a bad shape, cut the replacements by myself too and I'm ready to assemble everything.

I've read almost every water valve thread here and thought it is worth to ask. Maybe I'm the first one who replaces the gaskets by oneself, but it's so easy. We can make a rebuild thread here, as I've read that many peeps have the same leakage problem.

when that plunger is faulty, does the unit blleds glycol to the engine bay? I just replaced my cracked unit with a NOS one and today a pool of glycol under the car when I hammered her a little smile
when I disassembled the old unit I noticed it's a bit more complex than a simpel on/off function, isnt it ?

PS
I see we are both in EU. My is 383 at RT SE EK2.

I've never seen or knew anyone rebuilding these valves, walkabout. Let alone see a gasket set for them. Either way, if you figured it out and can do it, more power to you. I know if I was able to do it, I'd come up with some way of testing it and or checking it for leaks prior to re-installing it. Yet, I'm sure you realized that. Kuddos to you!
