OK...... Project Hemi.... Got more done this weekend.. Change out the oil with VR1 40, lowered the car and adjusted the torsion bars, finished the ignition wiring, put the NASCAR rims back on and odds and ends. It is getting closer...

Back on the ground..

Well,
She lives !!! Man, I'm beat.............

First thing this morning I discovered no fuel was getting to the carbs, turned out to be a faulty fuel pump (damn expensive new Carter). I took out the fuel pump AND rod from the 440 that had been working perfectly. That did the ticket.........

I positioned the distributor where I thought it should be and low-and-behold, she fired up and ran before the first revolution of the started was completed !!! It was a very happy feeling..... Seems though I might have a small situation. There appeared a small leak of coolant coming out of the passenger side head gasket seam in the rear. After starting the motor a couple of times and running it, it has totally gone away.... I'll inspect it in the morning..... The motor has sat a couple of years since it's initial start-up by the builder....... I may remove the valve cover and retorque the head bolts........ We'll see...... All in all, she rans great..... Now I need to fine tune it and get the best I can out of idle....... The rear carb is a bad to adjust due to the angle of the fuel/air mixture screws and the front carb.....

Here's a video of Jacob cranking it up...... Sorry for the video quality..

Troy Glad to see you got your hemi up and running. I have seen hemi's leak antifreeze at bottom of the heads due to the intake bolts being over tightened and have it stop just by backing off the intake bolts a quarter turn. But then it might start to leak oil out of back of manifold and you'll have to remove and reinstall the intake. Good-Luck Mike

I drove the car again today around the block and have fired it up numerous times yesterday and today... Nada on the leak......... dry as a bone everywhere.....

Once I get the newly developed brake problem squared away, I will for sure get her out. I have to fine tune the motor though ( install light springs in the distributor )

Mike,
Thus far, I have no difficulties with the shifter. I had to put the shifter lock-block upside-down like they mention, but that was about it. I SLIGHTLY bent the arm down a wee bit so the pin of the block didn't rub the floor pan. I can try and take a picture of the set-up when I get back home. But, long story short, I didn't have to cut and reweld the support arm. I have no issues with the torsion bar.

Well, she is getting quite close to completion.. I need to tidy up a few things. Due to a change in weekend plans, I decided to haul the Daytona down to my favorite exhaust shop to have the QTP dumps welded in and exhaust buttoned up. Came out pretty nice. The car sounds SO different without open headers......... I almost didn't hear it, relatively speaking of course to what I heard before with open headers.

1. heading out to the shop ( too far to drive with open headers and what would be its maiden voyage )
