Awhile back I posted a question on the boards about F6 correct color well I got a Qt formula
from Mirror Image out in Indiana so i thought
i'd share it with al those who inquired about it.
You will have to muliply this formula if you need
more than a Qt.

F6 Qt Formula PPG DBC Basecoat
tint---------cumulative parts
DMD662 -----------89.8
DMD647 -----------98.8
DX685------------129.1
DMD686 ----------222.6
DMD690 ----------368.7
DMD640 ----------691.0
DBX689 ---------1016.5

Well there you have it everyone.
-Jeff

Mods Is there a place where this Formula can be saved for future use?It Has Been Judged by
Chrysler Nats Judge to be Correct Shade F6.

No problem,i wanted to get the paint mixed up
before i posted the formula.I know there was
more than one person that wanted the formula.
I checked the old post recently and you were
one of them so I thought why not post it once
instead of having to tell everyone thru a PM.
Just hope everyone who sent me a PM reads this
post.Have fun everybody!

I haven't sprayed any 69 B5 in DBC.I did do some
68 RR Steelies for a friend using Valspar
basecoat.they colorwas different from the car
but it wasn't original paint, but i think it was close to the original.wheels looked a little out of place but it was good enough for him.He dropped in a 426 Hemi ran it for awhile somebody offered him like 30k for the Car so he sold it.
he bought a 66 Charger 383 4pd but he is putting
a 426 Hemi in that now.he'll probably drive that for awhile and someone will come along and offer to buy it for a good price and it will be gone too
He manages to get some pretty good buys on his
Mopars so if he gets decent money for a car he will buy another one.I could get you Tim's number
at Mirror Image and maybe he has run across the correct shade of B5.These old mopars are hard to match in modern paint cause it was done in laquer or enamel back then.

Mods,
Can this Formula be saved somewhere for
others to find in the future.
PPG's formula they have for 2103 is incorrect.
This has been matched to a low mileage surviver,
and viewed by Chrysler Nationals Show Judge.
F6A12BEE's Painter gave me this Formula to
Share On here for all Moparts Members.

Thanks,-Jeff

Not to be a wet blanket but this board has lost a lot of info over the years with server changeouts and problems. If someone wants to store something, it would be a real good idea to save it on your PC. I just saved the F6 formula myself. Not being critical but the way it is is the way it is.

Well I just thought it would get buried in the back of all these pages and there might be
somewhere they could put it so it stays on the front page of posts,so everyone can see it.
It was just a thought.

The request has been made (yesterday) to Tom/Moparts to move/copy this thread into the Tech. Archives (Body & Paint Section).

go to sherwin williams for mopar impact colors, ppg couldn't get one right if they tried,,I've painted that color when it was still stocked in dealership shops, for 30+ years,.........nowaday's and since B/C became popular S-W,is the king of mopar colors. especially blues,FC7,J5,FM3,they even have AA1 and A4 silver(difficult to lay down) down pat. and the oranges, very good color formula's,although all the 999 codes are hit and miss, you need a good mopar paint guy that has the interest to dig those up.coincidently,my shop in the background, was built in '69 as a chrysler dealership, that '69 sat. was sold there new,I apprenticed there, and it went belly up,the town was way too small(8500 pop.) for a dealership that big back then, they starved to death, and walked away from it in '74,and moved to the big city.

they contemplated leaving the bodyshop, and some mechanic bay's and just moving sales,as the shops kept busy, but shut it all down, one day, they told everybody to plan on moving all their tools out on friday, when the final paychecks would be there.

Hey no offense but I don't like Sherwin Williams
I think they should have stuck to house paint,
IMO. I'll stick to PPG and what little problems
I have which is only a few color issues, and
Of coarse the F6 problem is solved as you can see.
I like PPG's basecoat cause you only use
urethane reducer and you can save any reduced
paint.Doesn't SW use a stabilizer(reactive reducer) in thier basecoat.I'll Worry about the
other colors later.

I have a 1969 Barracuda 340-S convertible that I will be sending to the bodyman later this year. The factory paint is F5 green, and I can't seem to find any two cars that are supposed to be F5 that are the same color. I have noticed this with the F7 cars, but I never noticed the wide variation in F5 until I got my car. Does anybody have the correct formula for 1969 F5?

Paul,
I wish I knew they were having a car show there.
I just found out today from Dan Cook that Jay
has the Bee back on the road.
I need to get with him to get finished pics now that it's back driving again.
Thanks for the compliments.Alot of hard work went
into that car.
