Rebuilt hinges should work like new. The upper hinges came from the factory with bushings that can be replaced, and the lowers did not come with bushings. The best way to redo the lowers is to install an oversize pin, not drill for a bushing. For a kit to do this, see:

You can easily remove the S spring by clamping it in a vise as shown, then apply torque to the top of it with a Crescent wrench, and let the hinge slide down.
