Getting ready to put an original AM/FM radio in a 69 B body and need front speaker in dash and would like to have some speakers in the back. Who do I need to talk to? Or is this even possible?

i wrote this up a year or so ago - https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/prin...amp;type=thread
it was more about the front 3.5 conversion but just about any 6x9 will work in the back. keep in mind a stock 1969 am/fm is not a powerhouse when it comes to output.

I think the original radios are only 2 channel. You will need 4 channel for rear speakers. I had new electronics installed in mine to give me the 4 channels.

The 69 B body AM FM is a mono radio, meaning it only produces one channel .You can run one front and one rear speaker , as long as you use a factory fader switch.
Nice repro speakers can be found at turnswitch.com .

you can still install the speakers and use them. you just can't have stereo. hopefully the OP understood that.

Any ideas where I can find a factory fader switch? Someone here on Moparts? Thanks for the info.

you do realize that your radio is NOT stereo right? you don't have to have a fader to run front and back speakers even with mono. BUT without a fader the front speaker will sound louder than the back. back in the day we would just grab the speakers from an old record player, throw them in the back seat run the wires up to the front speaker and BAM, instant coolness . of course you HAD to have the ultra-cool FM converter in the glove box!

If you want to maintain the correct impedance , you will want to use a factory fader switch . Otherwise running speakers in series or parralell will change the impedance.
The radios output transformer can be damaged over time , which is good for me, but bad for my customers
(We've replaced hundreds of output transformers )

Factory faders can be found on e-bay pretty regular , both used and NOS .
Be sure to get the single pot (mono) fader and not the dual pot stereo fader.
