I'm putting together another 416 stroker . The last one I built is getting a little tired. It has a cast crank, and was built for mild use. This time everything will be done right. Steel crank, and only the best rotating assembly. I have a few thoughts, but would like some of your thoughts for my build. I'm not listing my picks of part yet, want t o match up your picks. The car will be raced a bit, but mostly killer street use.
Thanks

If you can afford a new 340 Resto block or an older X-block style race block, buy one!

Lots of good Choices on cranks, I like Scat or Callies, but K-1 and some others are good as well. With all of the good/reasonably priced stroker cranks out there now, I'd probably go for a 4.25 stroke just because you can, not so much because you need it.

If you have extra money for anything put it in the heads, again, lots of choices, just depends on budget, I'd lean towards aluminum but good iron heads now too and with some porting can make monster power.

When the time comes peruse Sanborns' oiling mods. www.moparchat.com then scroll down to & click on "circle track chat" & his oiling (& cooling) mods are in a sticky (for good reason) at the top of the page. Heard good on Scat rods & as you know get some killer heads, no scrimping there

I guess I neglected to say, I'm using my standard bore stock block (Late 1970 for the 1971 model year). Mostly cause that's what I have on hand (got to save where I can). It (of course) will not remain standard (3.040). I'm sure it will bore out to 30 over (3.070). So if I use the 4.00 crank, it will be a 416. The 4.25 crank makes it a 426 (I think). Haven't decided one way or the other yet (cost, I guess will determine).
OH! Also, it seems I'll have a stock 340 rotating assembly for sale.
How much, Hummmmmmmmmmmm.

Definitely wouldn't put more than 4 inch stroke in a stock block.

I would likely buy a rotating assembly from Rod on the board here(BPE), nice stuff and he has great customer service.
What is your intended power level?
Keeping it at 600 horse or less will contribute to long term health with the stock block.

69 Dart GTS A4 Silver All steel, flat factory hood, 3360race weight
418 BPE factory replacement headed stroker, 565 lift solid cam
Best so far, 10.40 @127 1/4
1.41 best 60 foot
6.60 at 103.90 1/8

Keeping it below 600. Some where in the 500 to mid 500's. Just want to build a good kick a$$ motor. But still be able to live on the street.
