Do stock shrouds work with champion radiators? They advertise that their CC375 3row 26" radiator fits OEM mounts, but can a stock 26" fan shroud work with that radiator? I wanted this radiator for my 500hp big block Im putting in my 71 b body. I can afford it, and it says it cools up to 600hp. I would like to use a clutch fan and shroud. But Im not finding anything that indicates a stock shroud will fit.

But for $100 more, they also offer 2 12" electric fans with an aluminum shroud.

If it fits the stock location there is nothing stopping you from making it fit , is there ?

Are you asking if they are setup so a factory shroud can be bolted directly on ???

And if that's the question the answer is yes...I bought the 26 inch B body unit.. it has provisions for it and a shroud will bolt up...Here's the rad with a shroud on it {2nd car in}.. LINK

I was thinking of a Champion radiator for my 340 Duster (22" I think). Will the stock shroud fit it too?

Below is a pic of the 22" I put in the Dart. It looks correct for the factory shroud but I can't swear to it.

Attempted to install a Champion in my '72 b-body which is a 26" opening. Could have modified the radiator a little to fit the support but there was NO way the shroud was going to fit. Champion took it back but offered no alternative.

The shroud should work if you modify the holes on either the shroud or the aluminum rails of the radiator (at least on the 26" one on my Challenger). You will have to get some of those sheet metal screw inserts clips or use your old ones though. Mine isn't on yet, but I got it really close one day and quit after about the third time since the car didn't overheat without the shroud I left it off. The fan clutch went out this summer and the replacement doesn't cool in traffic well, so I am going to put it on over the winter - with a few mods it should work.

I also had to do some grinding to get the radiator to the right spot. No big deal though. Cheaper than a recore of the stock unit.

My 26 inch B Body unit lines up to the core support great but I haven't held the shroud up to it to see if the bolts align. Will be doing that soon. I plan to ditch the shroud and fan/clutch and go with the Mercedes C class electric unit at some point.

I’m listening.

I say Ma Mopar knew what they were doing when they designed this.
If it aint broke, dont fix it!
Besides, electric fans are great for racing but seem to have issues on the street. Noisey, electrical drain on the system, burning out on the way to "Cruise Night" not to mention your amps gauge etc..... "Thermostatic" fan clutches use next to no HP when not needed too.
more of , so I guess thats my four cents worth. Still wont buy a cup of coffee

Thanks for the aphorism, but there is no radiator or fan to begin with.

Did you get the 2 row, 3 row or 4 row radiator? Was it their line that is specifically for b bodies?

Mine fit but there was a small gap around the perimeter.I cut foam pipe insulation into quarters and sealed it up.It's not even noticeable unless you look for it.

It was a Champion specific radiator, 3 core. The frame was so far off from fitting the shroud I really believed they had shipped the wrong one. When I contacted the guy (forgotten his name) he did not try to investigate it he just said send it back, in which I did. I still need a radiator.

Hey Copper Dart what kind of shroud is that? I have a 26" aluminum radiator and I sure like the looks of that shroud.

If you have a 500 inch motor, I would highly reccomend a Wizard Cooling radiator. It will use a stock shroud. I would not use electric fans. I had dual Spals that could not keep my 512 cool. I would use the Wizard, stock shroud, Jag clutch fan and five blade fan. I just changed to this and am so happy I did. Have heard some not so good stuff on champion. Wizard quality is what I think we are all after. BTW I did 1.25 tubes. Do it once!! Mike

GlenRay not only has the correct repo radiator, but the shroud bolts right up , no fuss, no muss.

Just got a 22-2 row from champion for my 71demon. I had to modify the passanger side mounting bracket on the lower slot had to raise the slot another inch to make sit level and the shroud holes are to low had to drill 4 new holes higher up.
