Since I read the other NHRA thread where you were putting down safety gear and the NHRA and you told Monty you need a sponsor, so I was thinking...
Dang Billy...Been promoting your self on the side of your race car since the 80s and you still don't have a sponsor?
This is what I raced in late 88 through 91.

Still have my street/strip car from 77. My wife and and I went out in our 1st date in it. Both my boys 1st ride in a car when they were born init. Maybe that explains Dizusters car craziness. 1st pass with the blower,13.99. I thought it was fast. lol. Last time out 11.01@122Doug

Mostly whatever I could get my hands on. First pass down the track in 1982 in my dad's "free" 70 chevy convertable, 17.04 at 80 mph. More passes in his slant 6 Duster running 18.90s. Then my 70 Fury III running mid 17s and my 78 Mercury Marquis running 17.30s, both with hacked up dual exhausts.

I have gotten good enough at it that now I do it for a living! When a friend and his partner that raced Mud Trucks over the years, wanted to make the moved over to Drag-Cars,the 1st person they come to was me.One owns a Big Boat Marina on the Back Water that caters to the Rich, the other owns 2 Nite Clubs in Atlanta. So I must be doing something right!!!!Ever since us 3 joining forces last year, we have been building a Racing Empire! They love Grudge Racing as much as I enjoy Bracket Racing. From Racing Mud Trucks they know you win some you lose some and don't mind spending the $$$ to win,if $$$ can be made off it.Bottom line my name on the side of the car along with my driving have gotten me what I needed. It got your attention I hope in a positive way,not negative way but I will take either over neither!
PS I have been Grudge Racing, since I started Racing so I know how the Game is played!I have most Beat already before they even get in their cars,if not I will Beat them as soon as we line up beside each other! "Sweet Home AlaBama'Roll Tide Roll"

In 1980 I ran a 70 Duster with a T/A 340, B-Body Hemi 4-speed, and 8-3/4 with 4.88 gears. It was black with a 6-pack hood and a blue crushed velvet bench interior! It was a street/strip car and ran a healthy 12.20 at it's peak. I was tuning it one day and had the air cleaner just sitting on the carb with the wingnut on top. I bumped the timing a bit, burped the throttle, it backfired and the air cleaner jumped off the carb, the wingnut hit the hood then went in the carb. The next thing I new I heard a bang, then the car quit and white smoke pored from the drivers sidepipe. Took it apart and the wingnut had wiped out an intake valve and the valve was sitting sideways in the piston, I still have it for a reminder what a 10 cent part can do to a nice engine.

1972 340 Challenger with a 426 Street Wedge swapped in. The 426 Wedge had unported 906 heads, old Torker intake, 3310 Holley, 3800 stall Turbo Action, SS Springs, 3.91s. The motor was a re-ring and re-bearing rebuild with a small solid cam. Only took it to the track twice, best run was a 12.82 @ 107. Photo is from 1986. Oh yeah, and this was my first car bought at age 17 for $1200.

I was racing my 73 Charger.... Swapped the 318 out for a 400 with a 484 cam and 750 Holley... Had Pro-trac tires and 3.23 gears.. Ran 15.20 at 92mph in second gear. Funny thing about that car was I never lost a street race light to light and I would run anything I could get a race with!!

The same car I race now, just on its third incarnation! Bought it in 1978, tubbed it in 1980 and put the 535 in it that year, did an entire 2x3 ladderbar chassis in 1994/97. Five different engine combos over the years.

This, my first dragster...stock block and heads 340 with a roller cam, glide equipped and shifted with a very sketchy homemade shifter....138" wheelbase, it was a blast to drive, ran low 6's in the 1/8th...broke a rod in the burnout in 1984 at the bracket finals at the now extinct Green Valley Raceway in Fort Worth.

I remember that car! originally owned by Don Slout from Williamsport PA. Later owned by Larry Arnold, who named it "Barbarian".
Boy, that was a long time ago!

Yeah, I heard it got around. The earliest I knew was Larry Arnold and I bought it from John Troxell. I sold it to a friend of mine who is working on getting it back on the track. He said he was surprised I didn't kill myself because the reconstructed frame rails were about to come apart. I was 19 and knew nothing about racecars back them. BTW, the car is only about 5 miles from Beaver Springs Dragway right now. I wish I had kept it.

A 1965 Dodge Race Hemi. Never had to work on it because I didn't have a penny to my name to buy parts with. Still my favorite bracket car. Don't have any pix. Wish I had one.

You hit it right on the head man.....we would work all week, get paid on friday, cash our check, load up the car,buy some beer&food, grab the gill and tool box and head to the track, race sat&sun,if somebody at the track needed a part or a hand everybody pitched in...from 1979 till it closed in late 80s(then reopened)I was at Byron Dragway,if not there then great Lakes Dragway,or US 30,it was a different era for sure.

Motocross.
Likewise 77 to 84. My early heroes were Decoster, Hannah and then Dave Thorpe...
I started racing MX as an amateur seriously around 1981 and continued into the early '90s before building the Challenger.
I had a bunch of 500 GP videos from the mid-'80s and Dave Thorpe was an animal on the Euro tracks. I only got to see him ride in person once, at the 1986 USGP at Carlsbad, CA, and it just wasn't his kind of track. Ricky Johnson killed EVERYONE that day... 'cuz Carlsbad was only about an hour from where he grew up. That was his first year for American Honda and he was riding like a total mad man that season.
