Hey all, Can anyone recommend an aluminum intake manifold for my 69 superbee with 383. Just looking for something in the range of idle to 5500 or 6000. More of a street car and show car has about 340- horespower with 9.0 comp. I was thinking about the Edelbrock rpm intake. Also looking for stock coil location and stock excellerator locations. I am not looking to modify anything. And it must be dual plane. Thanks, Dave

How about the Weiand intake? Summit has it for $199.00?

The Edelbrock RPM would be my only choice on your combo for DP. Single plane Holly SD

Does the RPM have stock coil location? And any problems with the throttle cable brackets? As far as stock setup goes? Thanks Dave.

Know that the Edelbrock Performer RPM is almost, very close to 2" taller than the stock intake.

No it doesn't , it's moved to the other side because the aftermarket doesn't know that there is any other carb besides a dual feed holley and that is the only carb any ever uses ...

Do you have a ramcharger hood ?

No ramcharger hood. Just the bubble hood. I don't think this intake is going to fit. Right now I have a Mopar dual plane manifold and with a 1/2 spacer my pie tin is pushing up against the pad under the hood. Can we suggest anything else other than Edelbrock cause I really don't want the performer intake I have one from 13 years ago and I don't like it. Thanks Dave.

There really isn't much for low deck intakes that fit your criteria ... try and find a street dominator, otherwise you are stuck with what you have. The performer is the DP4B turned 180. The only intake I can remember seeing with stock coil location is the original M1 dual plane .

You will need a drop base with the RPM .

John, I have the Mopar m1 I bought about 8 years ago. I just noticed over the weekend that the one carb. mounting boss back near the throttle cable hold down that this hole is thru all the way to the port. Is this normal I wonder or did something happen to mine. If it is normal, it isn't right!!!! Potential vacuum leak their! I would like to by another one of these intakes but!!! Dave

Drill and tapped through carb stud holes is not uncommon. If you are worried about it, just put a little RTV on the stud before you put it in.

The Performer and the DP4B are good choices at your power level. What issue did you have with the Performer?

The Performer I bought 15 years ago and had it on for about 7 or 8 years. I still have it believe it or not. I didn't like that it was setup for a spreadbore and not squarebore carb. The throttle bracket hold down seemed like it was off a little as the cable holddown was too far back when clamped. Also the front hole that holds the return spring bracket was too close to the port outside casting. Extension always rubbed up against it when torqueing down and left a rub mark. But I do like that all carb mounting holes and are on the same plane as the opening in the intake. I do not like how some of the factory intakes as well as a few mopar intakes have three bosses for carb hold downs on separate plane. Also I didn't like the two pipe plugs screwed into the casting under the throttle. What's the reason for that as well as the goofy looking choke opening? Thanks Dave

These are the things that go along with after market high performance parts. If you find these minor items to your disliking, you really don't want to try anything else, as the Performer is probably the closest thing to direct replacement. The DP4B wont have the EGR plugs, but is basically the same intake as the Performer performance wise.

I run a Performer RPM on the 383 in my '69 Super Bee with a bulge hood and stock air-cleaner and it fits under the hood just fine. I don't have the hood pad though, so that certainly could make a difference.

After all the considerations I have decided to stay with the Mopar dual plane. I went ahead and bought a new one. My eight year old mopar seen some months of overheating and the carb. mounting surface is now not flat and filing and stoneing did not help a whole lot. I just can't trust the old one anymore so new one on it's way thanks to Summit. Order before 9:00 pm and ships on the same day and in the same state of Ohio I get to pay state taxes! Thanks for the help guy's. Dave.

Dave, you must have one nice Superbee, as you seem to be a very picky, picky guy. I would of just kept the one you had and cleaned it up abit.

Theres nothing wrong with that.

That's not a bad thing is it? To be picky or double picky as you say! Thanks but it really isn't all that great. I try to keep it up and I do like it as close as original as possible. With a few upgrades or modifications. This is it a few months ago. Notice no shaking at idle! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCuLyA2OxyY Thanks Dave.
