How many decal options or combos were available on the 72's? Which is your favorite color and decal combo?

Post pics if you got em!

I like the tank tracks, and the roof strobes, but dont know if they were available as a package?

Not available as a package but never say never.
There is also the stripes over the trunck which looks cool with the air grabber treatment

What was I thinking....

i too dont know how they would look together but if the strobes and tracks matched in spacing they might work??

would have to see a model or photochop to see.

If you are referring to my red 72 with the hood and trunk stripes, They are very correct.....They are actually an option on 1972 Air grabber cars.

Yes, the twin stripes across the trunk and hood are an option for 72 and listed in the brochure. It is rare to see and I don't think too many came that way. This car belongs to a very good friend of mine and I have almost bought it twice now. Car came from the factory with 400 engine, bench seat, auto on column, air grabber and those stripes. Here's one photo.

rear photo. Car is being reassembled so that's why you see all the stuff inside and only one exhaust tip.

It is nice to see another 72 with those stripes....My car is coded for them and has the following factory options....340, 4-speed, bucket seats, console, AM/FM stereo, air grabber hood, tachometer, rally wheels, power steering, power brakes, tuff wheel, rear defogger, trunk light, upper chrome mldgs, shoulder belts, 355 sure grip, heavy duty cooling, dual painted mirrors, wheel opening mldgs, tinted windshield, I could be forgetting a few others...It has added options..front and rear spoilers and hood pins......I recently bought this car at a local swap meet from a guy that had it for 12+ years...It looks great in the garage next to my wifes white Challenger T/A.

Welcome to the board N9672RR!

There is another member who has a Blue 72RR with that stripe also.

Your Red car is beautiful. I can see how a Red and White would look great in the garage. Now you just need some blue to go with them.

If I ever figure out how to put pictures on moparts I would put my three 72 RR"s on. THey are all original N96 cars with the V21 V25 option stripes on the hood and trunk. There were 460 cars made with that combo. Mine are all totally restored from ground up. Mine are Petty Blue white interior Hemi orange black interior and Lemon twist black interior.

Thanks Moparts

When you say that combo, are you referring to just the stripes or to the Air Grabber Stripe Combo?

Also, where did you get that production figure?

Thanks, Joe

Those stripes were only available with the Air Grabber.

This member's car is pretty much perfect IMO as far as paint color and stripe combos go:

Just a little tech info. From my understanding the 72 air grabber cars didn't come with the black behind the air grabber bubble. That was the v21 coding for a 71 There may have been a few 72's that went thru with them on but on 72's the V21 hood stripes were the long ones. All roadrunners had V21 stripes but all years were different.

Thanks Moparts

Here's my rear strobe stripes with a canopy vinyl top.

You could not order both hood (tank tracks) and rear strobe stripes at the same time but some people put them both on.
I have a picture of my friends 1972 RR with both stripes somewhere ... post it later.

Hood stripes.

Hood and Deck stripes (had to be on a N96 RR or also optional on two door plymouth).

Hey Wanna 72

Up a few posts I said about the 3 N96 V21 V25 stripe cars I have but don't know how to post the pictures well the Petty Blue car made it on the board anyway. That is my car and thanks for the picture and I was wondering if you took any others. Mopar Collectors took the pictures of the car at Carlisle. It was in the under construction part in the July o6 issue and should be in there one of these months. My yellow car was in the July 05 issue.

I have noticed on a few 1972 Air Grabber cars that they do not have an engine size call out decal on the fender.....Did all 1972 air grabber cars get them?...Anyone know?

To my understanding they did not come with engine callouts on the fenders. Sure is sort of dumb but I put them on my 3 air grabber 72 cars.

THanks Moparts
