Going to look at a 78 LRE and was curious. Do the engine blocks on these have the VIN stamped in them? Or how do I tell if it's the original engine? Also what rear ends did they put under these? 8.75? Any other thing to look for to tell if it's an original LRE? Thanks

8.75 stopped in 74. It'll should have a 9.25(12bolt cover) Generally if its a 360 it will most likely very original but not always

Engine should not have the VIN on it
5th digit of the VIN should be an S
As stated should be 9-1/4 rear
The VIN should be on the passengers side frame rail
