Which do you guys use ,can't get a good 60 foot,car runs mid tens,but only 60's mid 1.50's. Car is 69 runner with 8 in 5200 stall conv.,cal tracs,90 /10's adjustable rancho's in back. I am running 28 /10.5 /15 m/t slicks now.
Would stiff wall slicks help,I have tried just about everything else. Any thoughts would be gray.

THANKS EDDIE B

How much does the car weigh?

Being a B body, its probably on the heavier side, you would be a good cantidate for Stiff side wall slicks in my opinion, and possibly tubes as well.

They increase the stiffness of the sidewall even further.

Tubes help stiffen the sidewall even more. I'd at least run stuff sidewall slicks. How much are do you run in them?

What rear gear???

Are you experiencing excessive tire spin???

CalTracs hit the tyre some, you could try slowing down the rise in the rear (Hi numbers on the shocks). We've tried radials, stiff sidewalls with tubes and without. Data says the ordinary bias ply slicks with tubes give the best 60ft results on our car but we do try to control the rear rise. You may find you run higher tyre pressure than you think you need too.

Before you waste a bunch of money trying slick combinations you need to get some good video of the car launching so you can see what its doing.

I bet the poor 60 ft times are chassis related.

I had an issue w/poor 60's a couple years ago, and "stiff" sidewalls helped cure the problem. They're not stiff all the way down the sidewall, only 2-2 1/2 in. down.(At least my Hoosiers are)and they do wrinkle some.

Any suspension will work better if the package is matched. For me, switching to Calvert 90/10's from CE's helped mash the stiffer slicks for some "gear" in the 60', then it gets back up on the tire. Before, I was seeing pics of the tires wrinkled up nearly 100' out.

You may be able to adjust your Caltracs to hit the tire more and adjust air press. accordingly but if not the new slicks might be the answer if you're stuck on leaf springs. It sounds like you are making enough power to consider ladder bars. Good luck

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

I use these Hoosier radial 30 x 9 slicks with fairly stiff sidewalls and no tubes. I have just SS springs and the longer MP shocks in the back. They hook good for me and have pulled a 1.50 best 60 at 10.70's. Ron

Yup my next slicks will be stiffer sidewall and tubes. Since i went mini tubs and 28" ladder bars. (little short but guy that did it for free and supplied them wanted to stay in the sub frame.) have tried 3 different spring rates sent my double adjustable shocks to be checked. It hooks and releases best 60 this week end 1.498 most 1.50 on a track my cal tracks and phoenix slicks gave me as good as 1.42. Ran a 10.42 best with a 1.50 short feel if it did not hook and release might have gotten a 10.3??

Anyway looking for slicks when we mini tubed I found new good years 31 X 14 16 inch center section fit perfect for the room i had so I ignored the for 2800 lb cars and lighter mine was 3700 with me will still be 3600 to 3700.

Been pulling my hair out next week at mopar fun day going to try my old pheonix 30.25 X 11.50 14 inch center section tires they are almost worn out but I have to see.

It seems that the stiff walls work best with heavy cars, with a all-out race car what do uall consider heavy 3000 lbs /under?or what
