Yeah and my GTS dart has different second digit too, but whats really different? My 1970 Barracuda came with heavy duty supension, heavy duty brakes, a ralley hood with hood pins, a luggage rack with a 318 3 speed on the floor and an 8-3/4 323 open rear end.
I am not trying start anything here but have asked before and never really received an answer.
The quickest and easest thing to check on a Cuda or R/T versus a non R/T or Barauda is the spring torque box reinforcemants in front of the rear leaf spring front hangars between the sub frames and the sprin hangars going out to the rocker boxes under the door sills and outside body edges The R/T and Cuda will have them and the others won't That is from the factory I know the torque boxes are being repopped now so who is to say that some of the non original cars don't have them welded on those cars now I'm sure thier are a lot of other differences, hopefully some of the more knowledgeable folks(restoration guys) will chime in on those things now like the instryment cluster and so on
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

Both the AAR and grand coupe had the chrome rectangle bars and no redline bars but the Grand coupe was painted in argent and the AAR was cast and painted flat black. If you want a cheap crappy grill, they are available through several sources. If you want a top-notch better-than-the-original piece, then call mike Ross at BE and A. They are perfect and not that much more costly than the junky ones.
What he said.

OK, so I will bite... what is the difference other that what can be bolted on or unbolted? Or added or deleted as an option?
Aside from the model designation changing (BP VIN prefix instead of BH or BS), ordering the Gran Coupe netted you:
- rectangular, chromed plastic grille inserts - wheel opening mouldings - belt mouldings (top of doors & top of quarters) - diecast rocker mouldings (1970), stamped aluminum rocker mouldings (1971) - 3 piece bright aluminum decklid & quarter panel trim - tailpanel painted Astrotone (textured argent) silver - Gran Coupe medallion badges on each fender - Gran Coupe medallion/trunk lock cover on tail panel etc...
Interior: - formed cloth headliner with overhead consolette (hardtops only - duh!) - Gran Coupe emblems on the front door panels - fake woodgrain applique on the standard gauge panel - fake woodgrain inserts in the grooves in the door & quarter trim panels - leather bucket seats, a unique Gran Coupe pattern vinyl seats were a delete-option (you got a credit for deleting leather) - cloth/vinyl seats were available - if ordered with a black interior, then the inserts in the door panels are red instead of fake woodgrain
etc....

My BH Barracuda had belt mouldings and wheel opening mouldings. I do believe at one time it had some kind of bars in the grille... it has places for them. So really the only real production line non bolt on items other than paint is the torque boxes? I have heard there were differences in the front fenders. 14" openings verses 15" openings but have never confirmed that. If there were differences wouldnt there be different wheel opening mouldings too?
What was in my list above was standard equipment for the Gran Coupe. The various mouldings etc. could be ordered on a base Barracuda or often came with other packages such as elastomeric bumpers.
Any '70 Barracuda/'Cuda grille can accept either the chrome rectangle or redline inserts...
All convertibles came with torque boxes as standard equipment. Theoretically they were only standard on 440 and Hemi hardtops, but there are many examples of 383 cars getting partial sets of the torque boxes.
