I need to get my project truck able to move under its own power quickly. It will have a 440. What I have is two BB 727 transmissions that are bad. Both short tail shaft, non slip yoke and both from the 70's. One is out of a motorhome, the other a 4x4 truck. I can get a known good smallblock 727 from a 1985 truck for cheap.

My question is will the internals, tailshaft housing and output shaft from the smallblock trans go into one of my bigblock housings? I am not looking for longevity or performance, just need to be able to move it around and get it on and off the trailer.

Is the smallblock trans lockup or no lockup ?

Oh never mind. I guess I just assumed it was a 727 because it was in a full size truck. Here's a pic. It's a 904.

Either way it is a 900 something and ain't gonna work. But just for future reference, would the internals and other parts mentioned above from a smallblock 727 work with one of my BB housings? Considering the donor trans is non-lockup.

as long as you swap everything that rotates along with the front pump and the valve body , it should be fine for what you want to do.

there were some changes in cases over the years but as long as you aren't using anything earlier that a 68 or 69 you should be good to go. 71 or later would be the best .

Be aware that Chrysler built transmissions for the torque output of the engine driving it. So, 440s generally had more clutch disks, etc, than 360s or even 2-barrel 383s.
It's not one size fits all.

Generally the motorhome transmission is built very well.
