I would like to replace the 4 speed in my 64-500 car and add a 5 speed. Is there a way of doing this and keeping the 4 speed console, and shifter?

The pre-'66 motor sits further forward than an E-body so any E-body info won't apply to an early B.

Early B bodies have a very narrow transmission tunnel so the only real transmission option without major modifications would be the Passon Performance 5 speed. I have a Richmond 5 speed in my Savoy that required major cutting to the tunnel and the torsion bar cross member. If you want to keep the console the Passon unit might just be your best option

Are the Passons going out the door yet?
