People get irked over all sorts of stuff

I beat a guy that was irked because my Duster had a car seat in the back.
Apparently he thought it was a prop that I put in the car to purposely humiliate him. It was actually for my 4 year old daughter and was such a PITA to remove that I just left it in the car.

Not trying to start anything but I used to run small block Mopar and they it ran in the early 11's high 10's but I had a lot of money into it.
I built a 9.5/1 440 30 over with TRW flat tops, 452 cast iron heads with 2.14 1.81 and a bowl port and a 850 holley with a 727 and 430 gear and it ran 10.43 in the same car with very little tuning.
It only cost me around 2500.00 and some used parts I acquired at swap meets.
Its more a "the bang for the buck!"
I loved my 340 notchback, it was a monster on the street.
Its just cheaper to go fast with the Big Block.

The car and motor I built for my Mom is a all steel, all interior Duster 366" pump gas that runs 11.0's. All the Mopar guys around here are stuck in the past and none of them ever really ask me about my combos.

Well im not stuck in the past, please do tell about this combo.

Factory 360 block with main studs, Edelbrock heads that I worked a little bit, Airgap intake, Quickfuel 850 on pump gas, TTI headers, .540ish flat tappet cam, Ultimate 8", and 4.30 gears. Those are the highlights but I can give you more info if you want it. Best 1/8th mile pass was a 6.89.

while it was fun having an unusual car (80 Mirada) with a pretty low buck Stage VI equipped RB that gave us a best of 9.93..... other than the nice launch it was a pretty boring ride. Shifting at 5600 and trapping a bit over 6k. Now running my dads Duster on the other hand... Always enjoyed running that car whether it was the low buck 360 (best of 10.91), or later the trouble plauged W5 mill (best of 9.87) it was just more fun to drive. It's too bad the W5 mill gave us fits cause we never did really get the car sorted out with it + we were only shifting around 6800. That combo had a bunch more in it.

....currently the old 360 has been freshened and is sitting in the frame rails. Other small block to replace the W5 fiasco is being formulated. I REALLY need to get out and work on it and get it running again...

I hear ya about fairly high winding mills............my big block 470 WINDS like a small block w/regular 7000+ shifts and it`s still pullin. I`m sure w/a better driver and tuner my junk would be faster just don`t care that much anymore I guess..........

I love beating big blocks lol.I would pull into the hess gas station and put 93 octane in it,drive to the hangouts.I'd get asked almost everytime i went out w a thumbs up how big of a bb is it ? I'd smile and say its a sb and they'd give me the look like...yeah ok.It ran a best of 9.58 but would run 60's allday anyday. As far as money it had tti headers,3.91 gears, full exhaust w a 950 holley.Truly nothing exotic, just a good combo.Same for my flat tappet cammed pumpgas 3200lb dart. I paid 8 grand from block to oil pan,it was fun runnin a 10sec car to mc donalds. The flat tappet motor sounded big w that idle..

guys will come up to me, asking about the car, when I tell them it has a 360 in it, they respond with "oh" and walk away...

I apologize its not a BB or a hemi, or even a 340

i had a guy walk over to my car in the pits and pop the hood...
I was walking back to my car at the time and was pretty annoyed ...that someone would have the nerve to do that with out my permission...he was with a few other guys..
I said "can i help you"? ...
they thought it was a big block..and were surprised it was not...
we couldnt have a conversation because of me being pissed about him touching my car with out my permission..
I said..."how about i go over and lift up your wifes skirt and take a look?"
that didnt go over well....and i did not make any new friends that day..

found out he has a big block dart tubbed with wheelie bars and 2x4s sticking out the hood.that runs high 11s.

I used to get this crap all the time. Most people were pleasantly surprised and we would have a conversation. But there were people who wouldn't give the car it's credit when credit was due. Even douche bag magazine editers with big block envy couldn't rap their tiny little heads around it.

I got a bit of that back in the 80s-90s when I ran an all steel E-body 340 car that ran 11.0s and was quicker than most of the A-bodies running big blocks. But I agree it's cheaper to build horsepower with a big block, and the small block did require more maintenance. But it was fun

If it ain't broke ... you're not pushing it hard enough.

I really get many comments about my engine being a BB. My ci is 413 and I have it on my hood so naturally many think incorrectly.
