Well, bit the bullet and went for it. Tried TTi headers on my Little Red Express.

Their A-body headers fit like a glove...better than the D-series headers I had on before! A LOT better

And of course, the best part is there are absolutely no leaks...quieter than even most cars I've seen with stock manifolds

Thanks...Jim at Kilpatrick's engine and trans (a mopar specialist) was pretty sure they'd fit since he's installed about a 1000 of 'em on cars (but never a D-series). They did great work; I was told it was a pretty straight forward installation too, far easier than most cars

My best personal installation was leak-free for ~ 3 months. After that, the "tick-tick-tick" header leaks returned inforce . This was with 1/4 inch thick flange hedman hedder's. I thought I could beat them .....

Better yet, for my application, it feels like more power too! I felt that the 408, 2.08/1.65 valved cnc'd eddy heads/roller cammed engine wanted more than basic 1 5/8th headers. While I wouldn't have minded 1/34 all the way, I actually think how mine is configured, it may make broader power w/ the stepped 1 5/8th-1 3/4 step than a basic 1 3/4 header, even if it gives up a little peak power.

Truth be told it could also be because of the new MSD ignition (replacing a mismatched stock unit that had a good ignition curve none-the-less) and the increased traction from the sure-grip diff too...all put together, this truck feels like a different animal. Will still spin them easily at 40mph

I like the routing better there rather than D-Series headers.

I don't have the part# in front of me, but based on the price I paid, it looks like it's the 67-76, so the pretty basic/fit everything tti headers...lol, I guess they really do fit just about everything.

The passenger side fits perfect with all manufacturers

The drivers side is always the problem
I used 1 7/8" Hookers for a E body & had to move one tube

Thanks for not being scared to try when a bunch of others said "You're better off using headers made for a truck"

I bet they tuck inside the frame for a cleaner fit too

Prince_Valiant,
I have a 1979 LilRed Express and want to know how the TTi headers worked for you. Do you remember which part number you used? Did you have any issues with the installation or make any modifications to either the headers or the truck?
Thanks!

Doing a search on header availability and options for my customers 79 Lil Red Express and found this thread. So I guess TTi A-Body small block headers fit fine? Just want to make sure before I buy them.

Thanks

I have TTI headers on my M body Police car and great fit and leak free for years now. Pay more up front, pays you back later. People wanted to poo-poo on me for spending that much on headers, but was well worth it.

The only people that would give a hard time for getting a good set of headers are those that have never had the pleasure of running a car with a cheap set installed and trying to maintain it.

Probably so. There were a few people that did though.
