Hi!

I have a few A833 transmissions I need to rebuild.

I was wondering hows the quality on those Zumbrotta brand new gears that are being sold.....

I hear they are made in Korea....

Are they any good? Do they work OK?

Zumbrota gear is about 35 miles south of me , and I am a long way from Korea.
But you got me curious so I had to do some digging.
Their customer service rep told me that they are made at one of their off shore manufacturers , but not in China.
I tried to pin him down , explaining that there is a big difference between Japan and China... he did not want to say.
He did say that it is the same manufacturer that makes the gears for the Dodge diesel pick up heavy duty transmissions if that helps.
Their facility is pretty large , but it is all warehouse apparently.

I asked Brewers and they told me they tipically pick nice used parts or NOS from their large inventory....they only use the Zumbrotta sliders for their own rebuilds.

They do carry the Zumbrotta gears though, and sell them, they have rarely had any complaints, but for their stuf they always favour the OEM stuff.

My brother and I have them in our trannys no problems. Neither have been for huge miles but enough seem good so far. My brother probably has over 3,000 miles on his.

What was I thinking....

I tried extensively to look for info on their quality on here and other sites back when I was running the 4 speeds and never got much feedback.

Good luck

Good luck, I was given a set for free about 5 years ago to use in my own transmission. After some carefull measuring, I sent them back and bought OEM stuff where I could and had Liberty repair the stuff I could not buy.
