do they sell a special tool to remove torsion bars, I believe I have seen something for this procedure for sale somewhere. Can you help point me in the right direction
Put a big block 4 speed Scat Pack Dodge in your garage.

if you are going to junk the old ones just clamp a vice-grip on there and wail it - works but damages the bar. otherwise a clamp-type tool is available, I think I gave mine to mperry after I used it years ago. Many here have made good tools for this tho.

(PS as for torsion bars, I never needed a tool either, just moved the control arm back enough to get the bar to move, then just slide it out by hand the rest of the way)

In case moving the lower control arm back doesn't get it, you can use a couple of 1" wire rope clamps tightened back to back on the 'bar. Then you can bang on them and not hurt the 'bar.

I'm going to simply say this. Your tool worked for me when all the DIY Mickey Mouse methods were just a waste of time. My T-bars were IN THERE!!

BTW, I learned something when using this tool. You really, REALLY (!!!) to need to crank down on the bolts to way beyond the tightness you think you need. Those GR 8's can take it. Then it works like a charm with the handy old BFH.

I also have one of those factory Miller Special Tools, torsion bar removal tool.
It's a heavy duty, well manufactured tool, for the removal of some really stuck torsion bars.
Without that tool i wouldn't have been able to get some bars out of cars, that i had to work on at the shop, or wrecking yards.
Yes, sometimes the home made, Mickey mouse, tool may work for you, but in a lot of instances they won't.
And by the way, the Miller tool uses big,1/2 diameter bolts, and not 1/4 inch, like one other poster wrote about, for his tool.
Have no idea where he came up with that kind of measurement.
Mine has been beat on many times, to get stuck bars out out their mounts.

Same, and I am pretty sure you can still order it from Miller. although the last time I priced it it was $85 or so.

Bought one off Ebay. Just slid up and down the torsion bar, never even budged it. Couldn't tighten it enough. Makes a good paperweight to hold instructions.
That is why I emphasized:

You only "thought" the bolts were tight enough...
