oil won't break the magnetic signal. Many vehicles have the sensors position in the block where oil is. Cam acronym is cmp

Thanks for the advice. I didnt think some oil (not a great deal, but its more than a slight ammount).

I had the CPS replaced 4 months ago with the new trans as a precaution. They told me I was lucky to be driving as the original CPS was cracked!

Said they had never seen one run with a cracked.

The one put in with the trans was a Rockauto cheap brand. I replaced with the only one offered by Oreilly (Not sure its any better, but it did cost about double).

I figured a quick sensor change to see if that cures my ills was a good plan before ripping into a timing chain replacement.

We'll see if it stops acting up over the next week.

On a side note, are there any bench tests for a CPS to verify its working correctly?

YES!!!!! It will if its on the wiring going into it. Or it is cracked on the block side. It causes Resistance in the wiring.Ive changed hundreds for this issue at the dealer.

The oil on mine was on the "inside the bellhousing side" probably the tell tale sign of the beginnings of a rear main leak. Time to run a thicker, high mile formulated oil to swell things up. The wires and plug were [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean] and span.

Just, for lack of better word, a dribble down one side of the part that sticks inside the bellhousing.

Edit: Apparently the Moparts filter felt I was making a racial slur towards those of Mexican heritage.
