I've watched a couple videos using grease but it looks like a bloody mess! A guy I know said I don't need to remove it...I think he's wrong.

PS bolting engine onto a 727 from a 4 gear

If you don't want to try the grease trick, then just buy a tool and do it easily.

Thanks,I know about these.I just thought someone might have a home made tool etc,this is a 1 time thing

Going from a 4 speed to an auto doesnt require you to remove the piolot bushing.. Leave it in there...

Yup! Many OEM AT setups I've dissected had a virtually new bushing in the crank!

so it's staying in there,for some reason I thought the flywheel sat in its place
