I'm about to travel 200 miles to Carlisle and my volt meter/gauge is bouncing between D and C. What does this mean and should I be concerned? It's a 1963 Chrysler 300 with a 383.. All original..

Sounds like the voltage reg.The points style go bad easy.Get a new electronic replacement at most parts stores.Looks almost like OE and hooks up the same. They work great.Id have them check the battery and alt also.Rocky

Get a new one in there ASAP. Might be able to clean the contacts of the old one with emery cloth/brake kleen when you get back

Similar thing happened to me,

Turned out to be that the self tapping bolts holding the VR to the firewall had vibrated loose.

I retightened and also added a ground strap to the engine, all is well now.
