Well here it goes, since i fell in love with mopars at the age of around 11, ive had one thing in mind. High School Drags my Senior Year. Ive been planning the big block for years, and doing nothing but saving money, working on my car, and repeating endlessly for this goal. When i very first raced my car, on the 2nd 318 already, 4 months after my 16th birthday, it ran 15.0 and did pretty well, but i wasnt happy enough. Bolted in a 383 for my junior year and ended up running out of time, and toasting it last summer. The car has been down and out for 9 months, and i just finished the new 440 longblock Saturday night. High School Drags is May 2nd. I have to drop in the engine and break it in, with about 11 days left. Ive paid for EVERYTHING not my mommy and daddy like most kids, and i have around 4000 dollars into this motor in just the shortblock. This thread will be ongoing for the next 2 weeks so everyone can see my progress and wish me luck, cuz im gonna need it. Its too late to give up now. Tune in for videos of it running, pictures, and hopefully joy.

Glad to see their is no "Rice" in your future, unlike so many of the lost soles i see in my town. Good luck with the swap, your hard work will pay off, and you will appreciate it more because it's YOURS.

I've been by his side the whole way and he's worked his tail off! I just got mine done but i havent had as many bumps along the way as andrew. I wish the best of luck to him this season and he and I are gonna be racing togehter with our cars at high school drags. My tranny went out on the way to my senior year high school drags last year so I'm relclaiming my senior high school drags this year.

Good work. That looks like a well built engine.

Great job so far. Good for you for paying for it all. My 14yr old son is racing circle track this year in a Neon he paid for and using a trailer he paid for. Only help he got from Dad was I donated a truck, then we decided a van would be better for him so I went halves on a Van ( I get to use it too) His mom bought him a helmet for his birthday, grandparents bought him a drivers suit, sister bought him gloves.

I will admit he is gonna have a tough time of it soon as his bank account is down to just $63.00 and he still needs a hood and a radiator, but we are getting there and he is proud that most of the money spent was his own.

He can't wait til he can get a real job.
