i've just bought a B engine with Stage 6 Max Wedge heads but it don't come with an intake manifold. do i buy a MP intake designed for the Stage 6 that has a cast in valley tray, or do i just buy a spacer kit & use my Indy manifold & just jimmy something up for the valley tray?
if i was to go with the MP option, does one just buy a RB manifold & it fits the B engine without modification? i'm new to the Stage 6 stuff, i've only had Indy gear on my B engines, any info on this would be a great help.

Hello,

Yes just us the RB manifold and it bolts right up. If you pick the mopar 337 intake it has a built in valley plate and you are all done. It is also relatively low clearance to fit most carbs under a flat hood. Flows great on that size motor to boot. The ports on the 337 are not true max wedge but can easily be opened up. That manifold can support over 700 hp.

Here is some links from this board on the manifold,

The other intake i'd be all over the the Indy 440-2d manifold. Great piece also.

These are The Chapman MW Stage VI's on a 517/400B with the Indy 440-2D, fits nice.

I'm getting ready to test fit the 337 but (just to clarify) on a B motor you still need to run a valley plate, the spacer only works on standard port height heads on an RB motor. MMy 337 is gonna get fitted for direct port N20 by the end of the year

ok, just checking i got this right, the 337 manifold is a 4150 std port, NOT max wedge yeah? the P4876129 manifold i was looking at is a 4500 Max Wedge port manifold that will fit the B engine with Stage 6 heads without needing spacers correct?

The "337" intake IS Max Wedge w/4150.

And see chart attached for info on others.........

The 337 Max Wedge is an anomaly though because it is not designed to fit an RB with stage VI heads without a spacer, but it will fit an RB with Indy or Edelbrock victors ( valley plate or front/rear spacers are needed to seal the valley).

The only max wedge heads the 337 would work 'perfectly' on an RB would be either the old Stage 1-3 heads from
The sixties or the new standard port height max wedge aluminum Heads Mopar introduced a few years ago. I think Ted's (Thoomer) previous combo ran a set of those, I supposed they were made for the nostalgia super stock motors.
