Does anybody make a pre bent oil dip stick and tube for use on a 426 hemi with TTI headers? I'm tried of trying to bend one up. Help.

I'm using the Mopar chrome tube with my TTI Headers. If $$ is no object go shopping at Lokar. They make all kinds of flexible dip sticks.

Take care,

I don't think anyone makes one. I ruined a couple repo tubes trying to rebend them. I finally just bought the Milodon flexible dipstick.

Yes, I have been pulling my hair out trying to make one that looks stock.

I run the re-pop MOPAR stick on my B stroker. With minor tweaking it fits between the header flange and head pipe. I tried the flex Milodon stick and the oil was wiped off by the bends. I tried the Mancini stick for use with headers and it fit fine on the engine stand but didn't play nice with PS in the engine compartment. The re-pop stick worked best. Minor PITA to pull it when pulling headers but no biggie.

The 426 Hemiroids are way different on thier dipsticks and tubes when compared to the wedges of all years and types

So the only dip stick tube that you can buy now is a repop that resembles a stock style tube or OEM.

I tapped the dip stick hole, put in a NPT to compression fitting and used a piece of big brake line and bent it to fit. Now I just undo the compression fitting if I need to remove the dipstick and no one sees the fitting. Tim

That's a really good idea! Wish I would have came up with that.
I used a re-pop from Mancini's and still ended up making a little bracket that attached to the second header bolt at #1 on my Hemi / TTI set up.

Along that line a friend bent one from trans/brake line and brazed a finish nail cut and looped around the tube. After fitting the tube he cur to lenght rather than re-marking the stick.
When done it looked original.

i mangled a few as well, but finally have one that fits. it is snug against the header, so i don't even have a bracket. should probably do that, but it's in there tight.

just takes a little time and making very small bends each time. test the dipstick for travel all the way through the tube with each new bend. you will get to a point that the dipstick won't go past the major bend right before it goes into the block, and then you're kind of stuck.

I tore up a $70 repo tube. I've tried copper and aluminum, after 4 or 6 times that gets expensive too. Schumacher used to have on that worked with TTI's but their supplier won't make anymore for some reason. So I am going to try one that Mancini Racing says will work. I'll give an update when I get it.

The one I used was the one Mancini said would work with the TTI's.
It did After I built the bracket!
I did this Before the motor was in the car Even otherwise Id still be working on it...

I use the Milodon flexible braided dipstick. I bought a couple different factory style dipsticks when I first started putting my hemi together. After mangling them up trying to get them to fit like I wanted around my TTI 2 1/4" headers, I bought the Milodon piece.

I just started on my exercise-in-futility last Sat. Bought a 3/8" fuel line. Put 2 single flare clamps on it facing each other about a 1/4" apart. Put 2 C-clamps on them & created a little hump to catch the block. All it needs is a tiny swell.

Needed a nasty first bend to clear the Schumacher bolt for a socket to fit. (made a socket wrench weld-ment to clear the TTI's 2&1/8" #1 primary if needed) The dip stick gets real tuff at the last bend, ... but choking up on it gets it past that then she's fine. I figured that tight bend might wipe the oil but so far its fine.

The shinny spot is where my 80's bought flaring clamp/vise kept sliding. The other one was my dad ~60's clamp, ...that bit like it's supposed to.

I'm planning on taking a little out of that last upper bend so the tube will be parallel to the header flange & weld a bracket for a flange bolt.

But all this may not matter if the tube doesn't clear the P/S box & high pressure hose & fitting. I still have to test fit to the K-member/PS box mounted on a K-member dolly.

I'd like for it to come out about here, but it does look pretty tight in that area, ...we'll see.

Don't take this the wrong way, Ive just ran into the same issues with my coronet.
Have you put the dipstick in it yet?
Looks good but putting the dipstick in and out may be a little tough with such a sharp bend. How is removal of the tube? It being on the side with the starter if you ever have to loosen up the header to change the starter " and you will!" that tube may have to come out so you can finagle the starter out and back in.

UPDATE: Well, I got the one that Mancini said would work with headers. It didn't as does a lot of what they sell. I cut the tab off and made a slight bend and reused the mount tab that came with the repo kit.Now it works, but this was with the motor out of the car. I also talked to the man that actually makes these and he said that he was going to do some research on what the problem was with the fit. He was very nice and said he would re work it or fix it if I tore it up,a refreshing difference from most people that supply stuff for us. I also was able to use the fire sleeve and the white cover that goes on the handle from the repo kit, except for the location most people won't know it from a stock one.

If this ? was for me, ...yes I mentioned in my 1st post it's a little tuff for the stick to get past the last bend, but by choking up on the stick it gets past that, then its fine.

Had to loosen the header to remove it (also made the tube part that's in the block 1/4" shorter so it doesn't have to come out as far), but like you say, if I'm changing the starter, the header has to come loose anyway.

71 RR- J68, are you using a Power brake booster? Does/will it clear that, while checking the oil, ...coming out at that angle?

Yes, a Hemi power booster set up. Didn't think of that. I haven't got the motor in yet, will have to wait and see. I might could get it done if everything I buy didn't have to be reworked. I sure hope it clears.

The only thing I can remember bolting on without having to massage it to fit,... was the Gas cap!!

Milodon or Lokar make a flexible, braided steel sheath for that combo with the Schumaker mounts. You have to make your own levels though.

Those were going to be my last resort cause they are butt ugly, except on a street rod.I looked at the Lokar web site and I didn't even see a Mopar stick.

I have been fighting getting my engine back in the last 3 days and will have both headers off 3 times but hopefully today it will be bolted in. Big cruise I wanted to go to today but raining. Several things with tti that I now know to check but smart enough not to remove motor again!
My factory tube broke off and bottom end was thrown away. I bought a Milodon and nice piece but will not go in hole of crate motor. Is bottom end of stock tube smaller than top? I can't get in to measure hole so can't compare to tube. I ground some of the knob off block above hole for straighter shot but acts like milodon tube is too big. Frustrating

Get a 1/8" pipe to 1/4" compression fitting, tap the block and then you will never have a problem again. I reamed out the fitting some because the dipstick was getting caught, but now it is smooth and I will never have to worry about breaking off the end of the dipstick again when I remove it from the block. I also used the $80 repop and broke it, made another from fuel line, broke it, so this was the next step....Tim

My engine was just rebuilt and dropped in car. From what I see the bottom of tube must be smaller than the top. I have 3/8 brake line and it won't go in hole but is real close the top of tube I have left. 2 different sizes must be crimped where mine broke.
