On my '85 Ram, the factory A/C cycle switch's sensor/probe is installed in it's own sheath built into the pressure line going from the compressor to the evaporator.

I want to install a new one but cannot get the probe out! I've soaked it 4 days with PB, pulled on it, clamped vice grips on it and tapped with a hammer....the lil' *ukka ain't moving.

Can I 5 minute epoxy the new cycle switch's probe to the metal part of the pressure line and wrap/insulate it with body dum-dum and expect it to work properly?

Your thoughts/opinions/advice, please.

I wouldn't epoxy it, just lay the capillary alongside the line and hold it in place with some of that "tar tape" that's used to stop A/C lines from sweating.

That's how the cycling switches that replace the EPR valve are done.

UPDATE: Well, I managed to break the probe, trying to pull it out of the pressure line sheath.

Now the A/C clutch won't engage...on one of the hottest & most humid days this year here in New Orleans!

I seldom drive the truck more than 40 minutes at a time. Can I jump out the cycling switch until the new one arrives?

If so, how do I go about doing this??
