Soopernaut OP master S Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 2,683 Des Moines IA	The last couple of times I've checked my air pressure in my tires I've had to let some air out. The pressure is higher in some tires than it had been previously. I check roughly the same time of day, the vehicle has been sitting in a garage out of direct sunlight and has not been driven prior to checking. I can't figure out why the pressure in 2 of the tires is going up each time. I think it is the same 2 tires each time also. 1970 Dodge d100/eventually going on a 77 D100 frame

I keep putting air in my husband's tires every night, and the next day it seems like they are leaking out some and I have to refill them. It happens to the same two tires each time, but I don't see a leak in them. Any ideas ? (I have no real idea what could be causing it ? )

Fern member F Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 103 M.A.	If the tires your running are rated at a lower load range then approved for your car, that will cause the tire pressure to increase when your driving. Sometimes to an unsafe level.

I get that the brakes would run at a hotter temperature but would it really cause the air pressure to go up several PSI every 2-3 weeks? I just noticed this in the last month or two. I've had the same tires for years and the same alloy wheels which I've had to get remounted due to leaks around the bead. Come to think of it both of the suspected tires were the ones that were remounted. One of those was remounted a couple years ago and I didn't notice an increase last year. I think the other was remounted last year. The strange thing is I've had this vehicle since Oct of 2001, have had 2 sets of tires during that time and never encountered this before. 1970 Dodge d100/eventually going on a 77 D100 frame

My garage has been warming up but it has been warming up other years too without this phenomenon occurring. I guarantee it isn't another person doing it. That leaves something mechanical like brakes or my gauge is reading inaccurate. I don't see why the gauge would read differently on 2 of the tires unless the others are actually low and reading normally. Dodgem master Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 5,746 Ontario, Canada	Tire pressures increase as temps increase as the air expands. Now short of a faulty gauge a nitrogen filled tire will not increase or decrease in pressure as much as a tire filled with regular air!

Tires just don't increase pressure for no reason. The air isn't going to leak into a tire. Any way for air to travel through the tire will let air out not in. Gotta be some kind of bad joke.
