Maybe they did? I've never heard of such beast. I just know themes the half ton and D44hd which is 3/4 ton. Its possible that's the difference also. Did rockauto specify 5 or 8 lug?

No but it says the 4500 is part time 4x4.. So I guess that's locking hubs.. The door sticker says 1476 kgs and that translates in about 3200 lbs. so I guess its a 3500 lb axle... Thanks for your help...

I believe the 4500# axle is the part time 8 lug axle. Thats whats on my 73 W200. Mine also has bigger lugs than a full time 8 lug 44.

No locking hubs on 79 w200's that I ever heard of. The lighter duty had the nut and cotter pin with 8 lugs, and the heavy duty had a bolt on cap deal IIRC.

Bolt on cap means its a D60.
The 200 designates it an 8lug truck. 100/150 are 5lug anything 200 and over is 8lug.

Im pretty sure the 4500 is listed incorrect because the W300 Doesn't list the 3500# axle.
All Fulltime D44s share the Same front driveshaft 1/2 or 3/4 ton. The D60 is the diff one as its drive shaft needs to be smaller do to the bigger carrier area and the yoke sticking out further.

Right on. No Dana 44 4,500 pound axles. In 79 there were only 2 axles used in a w-200. 44 series which was 3,500 and sometimes called the 4,000 pound. The 4,500 was dana 60.

That's what I figured. Especially after checking Rockauto myself. The W200 listing shows it listed as a D44. I knew it wasn't right when I checked the W300 and it had the same part number but didn't say D44. They also list with or without lockouts.
He's looking for an outer axle for a 200. Would a 150 work? I've heard the 150 is slightly wider

The outer stubs were the same 44 on the 1/2 ton and LD 3/4 tons.

Well if the outer axle shaft is the same Id have that along with the driveshaft if you didn't find one today

Thanks for the info Nitrousn. So the axle tubes are diff widths between 1/2 and 3/4?
