Big improvement and he can use those 4.88's now.

He also bought a NP203 that will get turned into a doubler so that will make low, low range 4.1 rather than 2.1. The tires took up a bit of space hauling them home in his "small" truck.

Nice. I found a set of 16.5x9.75 Steelies object Craigslist and when I went to get them they had some very useable 14x36.5 tires on them. I was rather delighted for $50

4.88s and 37" tires is the same as 4.10s and 31s That's my plan

42s and 4.88s is same as 4.10s and 35s. He might want 5.13s. This is all calculated using Ramchargercentrals calculator

Good score Dodgeboy: He is going to put a high stall convertor in when he finally swaps in the big block. It should work okay especially with the doubler. I'm amazed it did so well with the 125HP 318 with the 37's on it.

I wasnt thinking about the doubler setup . Forget my last post than
I thought $50 for the rims alone was good. Than I saw the tires that he claimed junk do to weather cracks. He only sent pic of rims not panned out far enough to see tires. Inside I was like Theyll be offroad use only for mine or the wifes truck. Not sure yet. Still have alot to do to them before even driveable. Both get D60s Front and rear. Hers will get 4" suspension and probable a 3" body and its already a 400 truck so Ill just swap in a Known to run motor. Mine will be 6" suspension with a 440/4spd when done. Both are Clebcab Shortboxes to boot. Getting a better cab for hers as there is rust above the driver door inside do to a mouse nest most likely. I plan to reuse her cab though. Im going to make my std cab lb plow truck a clubcab shortbox. Might get the last set of D60s I have too.
Ive followed some of your sons build on RCC. Seems like a Heck of a kid

He's done well. Too bad location is everything, I junked out the rustfree clubcab from the 78 due to no one in this area wanting it. I hate wasting such nice parts but what can you do? I would have gladly given it away to someone that would have used it.

Sweet! What's the purpose of those bars looped up on the front bumper? I see them alot and most have tow straps wrapped around them.

Sheldon he most likely will have rear drive shaft issues. He may have to get a rear cv style made up

Pete: Yep, we've been talking about that. We do know where there is a SB frame so he might lengthen it a few inches. It would help the front DS though except a longer front DS would hit the skid plate so that would have to be re-engineered as well. He's learned a lot on this thing and it's nice to see him think everything through and execute it.
The SB frame is thicker than a Ramcharger frame as well, so it would be stronger but might twist less, everything's a tradeoff.

Also, they can prevent flipping forward if you get into trouble.

I've always heard RC frames were thicker that's why they are good for Cummins swaps

No need for a new frame. Time to upgrade to 4-links
