Changed rear hose. Same problem. About ready to give up. I just took it for a ride. 20 min brakes start to grab. Came home, cracked bleeder, car rolls like a champ. Wtf is causing this pressure to build while I drive?? I have replaced dang near everything!.

The only thing I can think of is something going on/hanging up with the rear wheel cyls & their linkage

Maybe the wheel cylinders I bought are bad? Got them from Napa. I even took everything back apart and reassembled.

Are the shoes on correct?Small front large rear. Are the adjusters on the right sides? Even though they should always hang up.Did you as suggested pull the master away from the firewall a bit and see if they still drag?Did you replace the hardware?Rocky

I put a shim between firewall and mc. Used a pretty thick metal washer. Took it for a drive.....very little pedal. So little in fact I turned around and came home. Removed thick metal washer and inserted instead some gasket material I cut out. Went for a drive. Much better pedal of course. Went on a route that included plenty of stop signs so I could give the system a real workout. Problem did not reoccur! Could that very little difference in pushrod travel the thickness of a gasket have been the issue like Doc said? Not ready to say all is well quite yet but going on a long drive today so we shall see. I'll be jiggered if that 1/32 " in pushrod length was the problem.

Yes if the piston in the master is not allowed to came all the way back, the brakes will hang up because the fluid cannot return to the master.

Take care,
