all going to depend on spring pressure..

I wouldn't feel comfortable with it. Spending the time & money to put other good performance parts in, then use worn OEM pushrods!?

Have you checked the roller on the valve? With both my 1.5 and 1.6 rockers I had to get longer pushrods and shim up the shaft to get the proper geometry. If the roller does not stay in the center of the valve stem the geometry is off. The smallest problem will be the guides wearing very quickly. I used 5/16 .085 wall from Smiths. .595 lift 265@ .050 cam.

A shortcut is the fastest way to where you don't want to go!!!

1.6 huh? Do they kiss the holes thru the heads? I bought my last set in a chevy flavor because a stock length was perfect for my eddy head prw steel rocker mp solid combo. I got the hardened pushrods 'for use with guide plates'. Of course Im not using steel guide plates with a shaft rocker setup and the pushrod to head contact was very minor but since I'm not taking the head off to clearance it I figured hardened steel against soft aluminum wouldn't be likely to heat up and fail.

I agree with the above - you spend ont he good stuff then skimp on one of the hardest stressed parts in the engine? Not good. I measure and order from Smith Bros. A high quality pushrod will go a long way to keeping the rest fo the valve train in shape. The wrong one will be "the weakest link".

Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.
