Cat is junk on my 97 ram 1500 5.9 2wd.. Found a good used one from a 7/99 model year 2000 5.2 ram 1500 2wd. Part numbers are different but it looks similar enough wondering if it will still bolt up to the manifolds and function properly.. ????

I am not aware of the emission laws in your state, but in some, it is illegal to install a used catalytic converter.
I'm not trying to tell you what to do, just thought you may want to know.
I doubt that the smog techs would ever know though.

I would skip installing a used one and get an after market converter. I picked up 2mpgs with one and the little extra work to make the universal style one was well worth it. One scrap one will pretty much pay for the new one.

Some of the universal cats don't "clean" well enough and the downstream O2 sensor will toss a cat efficiency code.

I never had a problem with that and ran them on multiple vehicles. We also have emission testing here.

well... its in.. fit like a glove for th most part... we'll see what happens.

i wanted to buy new.. maybe a magnaflow cat as ive had good luck with them in the past, but this truck is just a rusty beater. need to keep it cheap. the 00 ram converter was cheap, took a chance on it..
