Because it would raise the back end 4" higher and it's high enough as it is. I don't want to do the axle flip because it would lower the truck and take away the tire clearance I need for the 315/60/15 Et streets.

but...if you ADDED 4" from re-arched springs, then did an axle flip which normally takes away 3.5-4"....you'd end up pretty much right back where you are

It actually is more like 4-6"
The tube diameter+sping perch+sping pack.
You could always do the axle flip and if too low do the shackle flip aswell like Scratch. If they were arched 4" itll sit like a 4wd since their blocks are close to 4" tall

I removed the thick bottom overload leaf from the stock D-100 long bed springs.

I just put them back under the 440 truck. tthis is how it sits.

to me it looks about like what you got -/+ 1 inch in the pic you have in the driveway.

even though I have it tubbed with a wider wheel/tire combo it sits just a tad lower than the 85 stepside which i UN-flip floped back to stock with a 235/75/15 tire.

are you against tubbing the bed for more wheel/tire?

IMHO,I think the only thing holding up more rim backset is the stock wheel tub.

join the group and chop your 8 3/4 to A-body specs and stuff some 12s with fattys under it.

I used some homemade clamps and added air to the shocks and no more wheel hop. I'm using a A body width with a 1" spacer to get the wheels out from the frame with out tubbing.

if you have a A-body 8 3/4 (axle 28") with 1" wheel spacers, you could use the E-body housing with 30" axles to do the same thing.

you might have just givin me the rim back space for the E-body housing I have in a d-150.

you said they were 10" with 4.5 backset correct? what size tire did you say?

315/60/15. I just went out and measured and it's 53" from backing plate to backing plate. 43.5" center of perch to center of perch. The top edge of the tire comes out even with the outer fender edge. That is why I like the extra tall stance of the stock springs.
