my flywheel measures 12-1/2 inches across the face, not the gear.what tooth fly wheel would this be? i guessin it would take an 11 inch clutch making it a 143 tooth.

that would be the bellhousing for a 143 tooth flywheel.

What is your problem , starter not engaging ? you can count the teeth , mark your starting point with a marker , count 25 , rotate , 25 , rotate ....

You can fit a 130 tooth wheel in a 143 tooth bell but not the other way so if the starter does not engage the wheel then you have the wrong wheel.

I beg to differ. You can fit a 143 tooth flywheel in a 130 tooth bell. It's when you go to put the starter in and find there is nothing but the back of the flywheel in the opening that you realize you screwed up. DAMHIK.

I put a 513 bell over a 143 tooth wheel, it didn't seem like it would go over without some force , I did expect to see the the starter hole filled with flywheel.
