I had several with the cooler. The top was steel with a textured finish to simulate vinyl.
Coded MF1 for white, MF2 for black. Available 75-78
Bought this parts RC about 10yrs ago that had a black textured and still had cooler and 15x8 steelies. Low mileage RC to boot.

Super six available...and wouldn't you think they would align the driver side moulding on the yellow SE better for a promo?
Still, I liked the fairly basic '78 I had ...
It takes gasoline to interest me.

If you skip to 3:09 in the video it begins the top options, and states white, or black textured vinyl look alike.
Not black or white textured paint...
There fixed. I sold them since the beginning and I have never seen an actual fabric. We sold them colored and white or black textured. The finish was like the jeeps fiberglass top. If there were vinyl tops you would think someone could show one. I dont care what you thought you saw put up proof.

Well, the proof I put up is the Dodge promo video that states "...In stylish white textured VINYL, or in equally good looking black textured VINYL..."
As I mentioned in my original post I had never seen one with a vinyl top.
So if the textured VINYL top they are advertising isn't VINYL, they why are they stating it is?
Because they can. I think its a poor wording of what was actually available. So where is a pic of that top?

Its in the video, they show both the white, and the black.
They show a white and a black picture but that does not clearly show a vinyl top. Even the way the top is edged does not represent a true vinyl top. I remember the textured finish and it was a spray on. Maybe the material in the spray had vinyl attributes. Having been in a Dodge dealership for over 30 years I can tell you sales, service, and parts literature has been full of mis-information.

Like I said, they painted it on all the way back in the 60's, but it was still called a vinyl top.
I partly agree on what you are saying. The correct wording should be simulated vinyl top. A true vinyl top was vinyl material glued to the metal roof.
