Picked this up and going to repaint back to original blue on white scheme. 62 savoy police car..."9" code vin car. Wears most of original equipment but missing the roof bubble and radios which I hope I can find. Has different siren mounted on front but going to remount inside hood. My boys cant wait for parade weather to cruise this in. Is BB commando 3spd column car. If anyone has info on these old police cars please contact me. Im hoping to find remnants of logos on body when sanding down.

It's unlikely it's a Savoy. Most likely a fleet special. There are fleet special ads and police brochures for the 62 Plymouths on eBay regularly.

If you can figure out where it was originally in service, there is a small chance they have more info on the cars put into service that year.

One pointer to me was to check the glove box for a speedometer certification (Michigan State Police apparently certified the already certified equipment a on their cars) for the unit or location it was assigned to. Also specific number assigned to the car by the department is sometimes written on the inside of the A-pillar.

It's vin shows police number 9 in vin second spot. VIN: 39271416XX
It's definitely low level model with the savoy single only tail lights and lack of
Extra side trim. Ill for sure check all those spots you mentioned when get back at house.

Is out of Del Rio Texas. Was told was Texas highway patrol.

Looks pretty darn straight yet. Floors still in it? Great project!

Here's a great reference book. I believe it's out of print now but copies (some pricey) are on amazon:

It's in really good condition. Floors have patches but had typical rubber mat Mopar rust. Ill probably yank interior and redo floor patches.

That's a cool find! I don't have my books handy so I don't know if the Texas DPS used 4 door Plymouths in 1962. They had 2 door sedans in 1960 and 1961. I have a 1961 Pursuit, ex TX DPS Highway Patrol. 361 4bbl and three speed stick like yours. Also, dual rear antennas positioned like on your car with a similar antenna base. Mine had a single rotator on the roof. Those fender mounted lights look odd. You might want to join the copcar.com forum, a wealth of info there. But as they say, "keep your seatbelt fastened", the exchange of words there can sometimes be a bit tough.

Don't lose those wheels and hubcaps btw, they were standard on pursuits, optional on Patrollers, Taxis and export vehicles. Of course, if you want to sell I need a set for my car...

Thanks for the info! I've found what I think is the original car number written on the passengers side inside door frame "P1212". I'm trying to track down if DPS or other Texas department. Mine had a rotator originally on top too. Im wondering if fender lights were added later from maybe another department? They've been on there a long time for sure though. She's definately neat.

I redid front brakes today and moved the siren to underhood. Someone stole the red rotator and siren off it at some point.
