Depends on how much you want to spend and how nice you want it to look. I bought a header kit from Jegs and a few extra j bends from summit. You can also buy weld rings so the welds don't protude into the tube when you butt weld. When i decided I needed two tube around the frame I bought cheap slip on collectors from summit. I used steel tubes and mig welded them. Looks like crap on the outside, looks fine on the inside.

this is the header I plan to build for my race car .. what are you guys doing for the bends and flanges??? buying kits and make them work how you like or just buy a lot of diff. bends and so on???who has the best price on this kinda stuff??? I have seen where guys buy big block chevy kits and use them with the mopar flange cut weld cut weld..lol

I wonder how well those sizes will fit togather,I have a pipe expander that I may use to make some slip joints.Have A very Merry Christmas ALL of you!

i havde been thinking about that myself... just a good slip fit would be great but a 1/4 is kinda big in this case...I am going to take a look at the other size.. I think they are just a little longer .. will post back on the other size as well..

It should all slip together. I always purge the tubes also, best way to get a good looking and strong weld on the tubes.

I like the headman flanges with stubs. I used edelbrock slip on merge collectors and a box of bends from headman also. This is my second set of headers built and really like the results.

It's all up to the amount of room you have. That's the main factor
My car being stock with T bars and stuff it's all a trade off. I just went big and unequal lengths. 2&1/4 with short and longs lol. It's hard get the fronts short with stock shocktowers.
These were what put my car in the fives in the 1/8. I had hooker fenderwell supercomps and it would run hi O's. Only thing changed were headers and it went low .90's

this is what I have, stock fenders, shock towers Tbars so I only hope to cut the fender to allow the headers[6"x8" hole]I wish you had a pic of them on the car.

Since we're talking about building headers, where can I get that star shaped filler piece that fills in the space between the primary pipes before the collector is put on? I don't know what that piece is called, so its hard to find it online.

The "merge collector"? or just the piece with the 4 holes in it that is filler?

Get a Hedman BB MoPar kit or SBC kit and flanges from anybody for the least expensive option.
Step headers require a little more thought , but you have enough room to do anything you want header wise.

Don't even waste your time trying to go inside the frame rails....they are most likely narrower than the stock rails.
Outside them , and back for tire clearance.
You'll have beaucoup room.

only thing with going to the outside of the frame rails is on the driver side the master is right there and may get to hot...I know I can fab a shield so that may just be the way to go...I know on some car they get really close on the fire wall and the shield works well so I will take a good look at it..so now who has the best price on flanges with the stub on them?????if I had a lot more time I would try and make my own out of just the flange itself but most of the time I only have 1 days home to work on the car ....
