I have a 74 stock 440 HP motor with thermoquad and twin snorkel aircleaner. I love the intake roar. Will a square bore carb or fuel injection sound as good with the same air cleaner? I am thinking about fuel injection, but the ole TQ sound is mighty important to me.
Thanks.

I don't think anything compares to the sound of those old thermoquads when you put your right foot into them. My opinion is no. But the fuel injection will probably run better.

Fuel injection will no doubt sound different but will run better an probably go faster.

only a q-jet will come close to the sound of a thermobog with an un-silenced aircleaner.

I had always toyed with the idea of using a thermoquad as a throttle body for fuel injection, although that would be very complicated and time-consuming.

Looking for 1975 through 1978 B body 4 door sedan sheet metal or parts cars - monaco, fury, coronet. Please let me know

I flipped the lid over on my sis-in-laws 90 GMC 1500 with a TBI 350 for $hits and giggles. It reminded me of the ol Qjet when you lay into it. She liked it and decided to leave it that way.

Nothing really sounds as good as a Thermoquad with your foot into it.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

I have the FAST EZ EFI on a 440 that had the TQ, fuel milage went down and sound changed. The idle air is the only sound, no part or standing on it sound like the TQ. Starts and runs better was the only plus. The efi throttle body is a 1000 cfm, you have to run richer at the low end to keep it happy.

If your dual snorkel uses a CA305 air filter put in a CA127 to raise the air cleaner lid 3/4 of an inch, you will probably need a new air cleaner stud. Looks better than flipping the lid over.
