What brand tires do you guys like to run on your street Mopars? Radial TAs???

I have BFG G-force sports, but I think they only come in 225/60-15 anymore for any wheels less than 16". Much, Much, Much better traction than Radial T/As. They are directional summer only tires.

I'm thinking of going with 255/60/15s MT drag radials in the back. what should I run in front to match those???

Cooper Cobra's are a good 15" tire that come in all the popular sizes..

Depends on what the intened use is. Long life? Track day or drag race? Somenthing to just roll around and load rating. I want a tire that has good summer tration, but will still be decent if Im in a rain storm that also has a decent life. Im also looking at maybe a 16" or 17" in an early A. I have been a fan of Michelin tires, especially the Pilots. Again, depends on intended use and budget.

The car is a 68 Dart 340/727/3.91. The intended use is a street cruiser. It won't see a ton of miles so life isn't a huge deal to me.

I run MT ET street radials and Pro-Trac front runners I know that guys will tell you horror stories about radials and bias plys not playing well together but my car handles fine even over 100 MPH

I used to get Indy 500s from Firestone. Last set came in and said made in Mexico, even though the specs said USA. Kelly Chargers seem to be a good tire and are made in USA. Not sure about what sizes they make.

What is your priority?

You get to make a choice; traction or wear life. As they get stickier, they wear faster.

I personally have 2 rear sets of wheels and tires. I tried very hard not to go this way because I wanted one set to do it all. But if you have any real horsepower numbers, it's just not possible.

I still enjoy a big smokey burn-out, and so does everyone else. That means street tires. And the brand is not terribly important. I can usually get 2 years or more out of street tires doing regular burn-outs.

If I have good sticky tires like drag radials, the acceleration is much better with the increased traction. But, it is easy to go through 2 or 3 sets of them an year doing roughly the same amount of burn-outs.

Besides, the street tires make for a much better burn-out overall. And the street tire burn-out is a much bigger crowd pleaser than brutal acceleration. Unless you are at the track or having a street grudge match.

Over the last 5 or 6 years, I think that the compromise of 2 different sets of wheels and tires has made my car more fun and actually saved me money since I have not bought several additional sets of sticky tires.

Besides, the sticky tires get hard after a year or so and start loosing their grip. They are not a good choice for a long term tire if the grip was the primary reason for purchase.

Frankly, more and more of the street tires are imports and are crap. But they are hard enough to last a good while. This choice can be made on price or looks alone.

The stickier tire choice is much tougher.

Gus I run Mickey bias rears and skinny radials front.No problems with my 65 either.Ive had it to 120 and can let go of the wheel and its still straight.Its not set up for road racing but it still handles gurves well.Rocky

I run M/T street drag radials on the street, as big and as fat as I can get in the wheel wells.

BF goodrich's go up in smoke if you look at them menacing enough.

So, I'm still having trouble coming up with what tires to run. I need to run a 255/60/15 in back because that's the biggest I can get (whether it's a BFG T/A, Cooper Cobra, or MT Drag Radial, or a MT Sportsman S/T Radial). Those are pretty much my only options in that size.

Question 1- Which one of those will give me the grip and decent street manners?

Question 2- What's a good tire to match for the front in a 205/65/15 size??

None of those tires come in that size, so I'm going to be mixing. The guy at discount tire yesterday said it was a no-no to mix and match tires. I told him it's gonna be a hot rod and I'm not too worried about handling characteristics. I just wants something that looks decent with whatever rear tire I decide on.

Any ideas???
