Haven't tried this one before. I've got a 489 pig, 3:23 open diff, I'm going with a clutch suregrip, solid spacer and 3:55 gears. Ebag has a "master rebuild kit" that I think is required. Some of the suregrips listed are around $400, others are described as "heavy duty" with a Yukon part number for about $170 more. Are the cheaper ones Chinese units now? How difficult is this? I'm fairly handy, built a good running 340 and rebuilt the 727, but this is the first diff Does my plan sound ok? Anything else that I might need? If you've done this before, any help much appreciated.

Oh yeah, it's a hybrid.....it burns gas and tires!

All new 8 3/4" clutch sure-grips are assembled in USA from a variety of imported parts, but no components are made in China.

The Auburn cone sure-grip is the ONLY 8 3/4" traction differential entirely made in USA. Unfortunately, this design is also the worst.

Thanks Doc, I was just curious why they would ask more for the one with the Yukon part number? How about my build, sound like something doable? I'm always keen to try something new so I can learn something, but if I was closer to you I think I'd just have you do it

Because Yukon is Randy's Ring and Pinion house brand, there is an additional middle man involved.

Sounds like the project is do-able if you have access to a few tools including a press and impact wrench.

BTW, I stock everything you need, including a carrier bearing spanner wrench.

Please E-mail me if you are interested.
