Sad news for sure, and I expect to see a lot more of this in the coming years; the economy, our country has been Enroned.

I think Silvolite manufactured them, not Black. I've been involved in downsizing/rightsizing/layoffs/closures (although luckily not as the owner... ) and it's no good for anyone. Not the owner, the investors, or the employees.

Hopefully someone will be able to step up and provide an influx of capital that will see the company through this time without bastardizing one of the icons of the industry.

Seduce the attractive, and charm the rest. ****** 489 C.I.D., roller cam, aftermarket heads, tunnel ram, stock '54 Dodge rear axle assembly: which of these doesn't belong?

United Engine and Machine makes the KB line of pistons along with the Silvolite brand

Do the fuel guys even run KB blocks anymore???? I would guess with all the money thrown at drag racing the last few years that some teams may even make their own billet blocks these days..Just curious if anyone knows the answer.

i could be wrong but i "thought" billet blocks were required in fuel classes. i believe there are a few different sources for billet blocks.

Guess that was my point...If no one but guys like us run KB blocks seems like it may be a hard sell to unload the company and hope they remain a viable company. Truly sad news as I am in the same boat as you James with a new KB block as well..

That is truly sad if it is true. Obviously, either what they are making isn't selling or can't make what is selling.

As a small businessman involved in manufacturing, there could be many reasons why this is happening---lack of profit, lack of sales, cost too high, the wrong location to manufacture(happens a lot today) or it could be something as simple as the family doesn't want to do it any longer!

I hope at least the name/product line can continue.

with the long wait for blocks you'd think business was booming .

I think that has something to do with it . I'm not sure what the problem is...But to wait that long, I'M sure hurt business some...I know due to the wait, I have a Indy block between the frame rails
